Tween "music" has hit an all time LOW

Ok, most of us amongst the blog world are secretly undercover nerds,and we know everything that's going on in pop culture (how would our tweets be funny without being up to date on what's going on right?) and we see all the latest spoofs going on, Charlie Sheen's "winning rap", Paula Deen Riding various funny animals,etc. But I was a bit confused when I saw this girl "dancing" all over tumblr.

Um....WTF is THAT??! So I got a bit more clarity when my friend sent me a text with a link to this HOT mess of a video

I know I usually don't blog about stuff like this, but as a parent who prides herself in having children that are fans of GOOD music,and know what a record player is,and are truly being taught how great music can be , I just couldn't be quiet about what is happening with the poor youth today.(ha)
I feel sorry for whatever kids think this song is actually cool. Just when you thought Justin Beebs,and Willow Smith whippin' her haor all over the place were gonna drive you crazy,this little fool gives us lyrics like
"kickin in the front seat, kickin in the back seat, gotta make my mind up, which seat should i taaaaaaaaake?!"
OMG....how about ya just sit your lame ass down ANYWHERE and promptly STFU!!! I mean come on people, when I was this age I had the spice girls!

Sure they were cheesy, but secretly we all loved them, and they weren't THIS bad...

SERIOUSLY! I would seriously like to meet the tween that thinks this song is good,and promptly take them to the nearest punk show,and some kids squat house,then take them to the hood to learn all about keepin' it real...hell i'd even take them to Nashvilleto learn about country music...ANYTHING but this sorry excuse for music! So folks what's your take on the "greatest horrible lyrical genius" Rebecca Black? I must go listen to the Misfits or something while I recover.

Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays! (version 4!!)

Yay! It's that time again mamas!

I actually think I met Deanna back toward the end of my live journal days and I am thrilled that she is participating! I'm also very happy she volunteered to show everyone that you don't have to be a heavily tattooed mommy to be featured.All art is beautiful and I want to connect with everyone! I totally connect with Deanna's mom refusing to acknowledge her tattoos, (as my mom does the same thing),as well as her living in the bible belt and people being somewhat rude about a lady with skin art. But enough about me,on to the interview!

Hi! I'm Deanna from Delirious Rhapsody
I started my blog when I was pregnant with my second son, mostly as a way to keep in touch with my mother in law who lives across the country, and it just took off from there. I'm married to my wonderful husband, Peppy, and a stay at home mom of two little boys, Gage who will be 4 in July, and Owsley who is 4 months. I definitely find humor in parenting, and a lot of what I blog about are the funny happenings in my life.

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Owsley is still too young to understand what they are, but Gage has been interested in them as long as I can remember. When he was around a year old he would run up to me with markers and want me to draw stars and cars on his chest and arms. Now he tells me that he wants tattoos when he is bigger. So I'm assuming he likes them. :)

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos, what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom hates tattoos. I come from a very religious upbringing, as well as live in the heart of the bible belt. To some people around here, tattoos are still taboo. In her mind, having tattoos is destroying the Lord's temple. My mom knows that I have tattoos, but she just refuses to acknowledge them.


3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
I've never been told anything negative directly to my face, however, I once worked in a snooty tearoom and as I was leaving a table of mine, I heard a lady say something along the lines of, "She could be so pretty if she didn't have all those tattoos!" (Which in retrospect is kind of funny because I only have a couple that are visible.)

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
I'll wear sleeves to church or when I am doing something with my side of the family, but I don't hide them from my husband's family, or when I go anywhere else.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
I do! I have a mommy and baby owl that was taken from Gage's favorite book when he was a baby. I don't have a tattoo for Owsley yet. But I'm sure to get one in the future!


6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
As long as they are of age, I really don't have a problem with it. I just hope that they think about what they want before rushing into anything. I was 18 when I got my first tattoo, and I basically did it out of rebellion. Now I'm stuck with a really crappy nautical star tramp stamp. I only have seven tattoos, and three of them were when I was 18 and thought I was a total badass. So yeah, I hope my kids put a little more thought into it than I did!



7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
A ear of my Grateful Dead bear and a wing of my dragonfly grew to pretty extreme measures during both of my pregnancies, but remarkably enough, they both shrunk back to original size. I was pretty surprised.


8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
I haven't really run into this problem yet.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
Play nice! It's ok if you don't like my tattoos. I may not like your blouse or your haircut, but I keep it to myself!


10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Yes, definitely! It's basically just a matter of finances. I've got many more ideas of what I want. For the past few years tattoos have been a treat for myself every February, but since I'm breastfeeding right now I'm going to hold off until Owsley is weened.

Our Saturday

Saturday was actually a nice day as far as the weather was concerned. The sun was shining ,and we didn't have to wear hot coats, hats,and gloves. YAY! So I decided we could surprise the girls with a trip to the old fashion ice cream shop.

It's the cutest little ice cream shop,everything is old fashioned and made Zoe and Amelie very curious about all the old nick knacks laying around.



While they didn't have tons of flavors to choose from like larger chains, they did have the basic favorites ,and fresh made waffle cones mmmmm.(Sorry to any one who is dieting and reading this...;)


Of course the entire experience of eating ice cream in the cute little parlor as I pictured it in my head was completely different once we were actually there sitting down.The girls scarfed their ice cream down insanely fast, people kept looking at me weird cause I was making so many pictures,and the girls decided they should eat our ice cream too....hmm..Besides, Kevin and I enjoyed our ice cream too.


BUT all in all it was a good time and I think I'll keep that little shop in my go to emergency kids entertainment bank for the upcoming summer days.Because we all need a sweet escape now and then.;)

The Urban Farmer

A friend of mine recently posted this Urban Farmers article on facebook about a young urban farming couple and their efforts to bring quality grown and fed foods to their peer group and beyond.
While our family, isn't branching out and doing big farming we do like to dable in garden boxes,flower and vegetable plating each spring. This year is no different, except we are going to expand beyond our garden box and actually make a few larger scale boxes to grow quiet a bit of food this year.



While our actual food from previous years isn't exactly county fair 4-H club blue ribbon winning, it's good food that was fun to grow.
This year we have already planted a slew of organic seeds in indoor planting pods,and are awaiting the days until we can transfer everything outside.



I know this sounds so cheesy but, the first garden we planted brought me so much joy! True, I have grown two precious little humans in my belly, but there's something about growing your own food to feed those little kiddos that makes you so very proud! We do enjoy our trips to the farmers market, but growing your very own salad bar in your backyard, is the most rewarding experience!We do have the benefit of living somewhat in middle of the country, but I think urban farming is possible anywhere.When Kevin, Zoe and I lived in our apartment, Kevin's mom helped me grown TONS of tomatoes in buckets on our patio! (We seriously had so many tomatoes, and herbs, I had no idea what to do with them! So because if this I know without a doubt despite where we live farming on any scale is possible. It also gives the kiddos something to do during the spring and summer and it's an every day activity the whole family can help with! I really urge you to try to grow at least one thing this Spring/Summer. Be it some potted flowers on your outside space, a single vegetable of your choice, or a whole backyard salad bar. I truly can stand behind saying. it will make you very happy! So, go play in some in some dirt and get to growing!!

Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays! (version 3!!)

Yes folks, it's that time again! Another lovely tattooed mama for you to meet!


The lovely mommy I'm featuring today is Kelly!


Here's Kelly's interview:

Intro: My name is Kelly M of This Rock Star Life
I live in Northern California with my husband and our 2 kids. The kiddos keep me very busy, especially when my husband is on tour with his band, All Shall Perish. I am also a photographer, specializing in maternity, baby and kids. Most recently I started a website dedicated to my Birth PhotographyBirth By Kelly which is where my true passion lies.

I have two little lovies: Greyson - 4 years 7months & WinterRose - 10 months


1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Greyson seems to like them. Of the tattoo inside my lip he says, "I don't want letters in my mouth, that's too crazy."

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos
My mom has tattoos herself and actually took me to get my first one. She likes them and had more of a problem when I went through my piercing phase.


3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
I have never had an issue with someone having a problem with them. They either don't have a problem, are too polite for side eyes/comments or I am just too naive to notice.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
No, not at all. I would have to wear long sleeves and a turtle neck, that is not going to happen.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
Not yet, but I do hope to get them started in the near future.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
I think I would be ok with it, but I would encourage them to think long and hard about the tattoos that they want. I love all of my tattoos, but there are a couple I wish I could change a bit :( (example: When I had my snow white tattoo done, I had my artist work around my existing tattoo, I wish I had had it covered instead.

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
I don't have any tattoos on my torso, so that wasn't an issue. I still loved my tattoos regardless, but I did worry that people might think I was trashy looking or make assumptions about me. I suppose they could make assumptions even if I wasn't pregnant, but I cared more while pregnant.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
Thankfully, I haven't. I have an amazing group of mommy friends. We all come from different backgrounds, are different races, different religions, different socio-economic status. There are a few moms that have small tattoos but I am definitely the most heavily tattooed. The commonality of our children is what brought us all together but we have found that we are the same in so many more ways than we are different. I am so incredibly thankful for their friendships

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom know?
Im really awesome and so are my kids, so you're missin out!


10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
YES! I want to add to my stars to "soften" them up. I want to work on both sides of my neck and fill up both arms. I wish that I had started at the top of my arm rather than the bottom, as it now feels very unfinished! Hopefully I'll be able to work on some of this before I am 40 ;)

When all else fails...blog your clothes!

So if you follow me on twitter you know I've been busy with school,funerals,homework etc. (oh and laundry that big mountain of laundry) oh yeah and those two little people named Zoe and Amelie! Yeah I've been sadly overwhelmed and busy. Maybe a bit too busy with life to blog about it? i dunno>?But here I am with at least 2 new blog updates for you lovely folk! I think we both pulled off almost 100% thrifted pretty well! I recently got some really more neat thrifted clothing items I can't wait to wear. I'm really excited about where Kevin and my style is going lately. It's totally 100% out of our heads(but NOT out of our minds ha!)...not much outside influence, I like it. While some people we know may think we are trying to follow trends, we actually aren't . It may sound corny but our fashion sense is at a very organic time for us, a blank canvas, creating looks from our heads, not spending too much, it's fun. Kinda reminds me of this song:
