So last week I featured my friend Miya Bailey,and low and behold this weeks BEAUTIFUL mama has a piece of art by him (small world?) I met Shawnta through a friend on twitter:) She has been so patient with me and my constant nagging to do this feature! (thanks!!!) I am in LOVE with her work and I'm sure you will enjoy it too!! Now onto this weeks:

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
My girls love my tattoos, especially the ones that represent them. They love my tattoo artist and enjoy their visits to the tattoo shop. All their little friends come up to me to see my tattoos and comment how cool they are, so I think they are proud to get to go home with the 'cool momma' everyday. They are my little helpers and put lotion and rub them to keep me from scratching when they are healing lol.

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom passed away long before any of these tattoos came to be, but I have got my fair share of motherly "what the hell you go and do that for" from my auntie. At 71 I don't think she will ever understand my motivation and has the usual concerns of me not being able to support myself because of my artwork.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
In Maryland I got a lot of positive feedback on my tattoos and questions about where I got them done, if that hurt, things like that, but in Texas....whole different ball game. I get a lot of stares here, and sometimes they compliment me on something that I am wearing like a plain ole white t-shirt to justify why they were looking at me for so long.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
No. I actually show them to feel people out , because if I'm not accepted then how can I expect you to accept my wonderfully unique little girls.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
Yes, I have both their zodiac signs and two koi fish within my sleeve for them.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
What!!! I so want to be there! I hope they still think I'm cool enough to tag along with them lol! I will only stress for them to take care of them properly when they are healing so that they will be 100% happy with it in the end, and think twice about a name.....especially a guys name :)

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
I have a small bumble bee on stomach that I got before the pregnancies. She has weathered them pretty well actually, just a little dull, but it is 12 years old. Now the fat rolls are a different story! She would probably get more sunlight if it wasn't for them!

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
I have not and I have my children and them being so close in age to thank for that. They never express interest in playing with other kids outside of school as they are very content with each other and our various adventures.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
I would want them to judge me by how smart and respectful my children are and not what I have decided to put on my skin.

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
I probably will. I'm thinking about getting some pieces done in color since I have so much in black and grey. Tattoos are almost an obsession for me. Not a day doesn't go by that I don't look at a tattoo blog or look up my favorite artist to see the new stuff in their portfolio.

Super Chill Park Dwellers

As most of you know I got to an art school and hour away from where we live! (yikes) Gas prices and money for materials are killing this one income family right now. This can be pretty hard on a mama that loves to go,go,go and do tons of stuff,and yes,spend money like water.So,in an effort to feed my wanderlust and cabin fever, I am constantly thinking of stuff to do for the low low,or better yet,for free.

Saturday, I was in no mood to be stuck in the house (which was pretty hot because it was even hotter outside) So I decided while Kevin was taking a nap,I would take the girls to our favorite park,for some super chill out time.

I packed up any and everything I could think of that would be fun (and quiet) to do in a some what chilled park. With nearly all the neat stuff we owned packed into an over sized hello kitty nautical tote,off we went!
Once we got there I was super excited to see that not that many people had the same idea as we did, so we got to sit under the prettiest shade tree in the park.

We set up all our stuff on our sheet (yeah ghetto I know lol) But like I said,not many people were around so it wasn't too embarrassing!

To my surprise, the girls weren't too bad (yay) no fighting or yelling, and I actually got to lay in the grass relax and paint a bit! (woot!)

ps (I'm totally not painting major at the before mention art school lol)
It had been way too hot earlier in the day, but we kept getting nice breezes which made it bearable.I'm happy Zoe and Amelie got to spend some time outside,and I was able to get out of the house (I HATE being cooped up) and it was all for free! WOOT! Going to this park I swear is like a mini vacation it's so quiet! I'm not one fpor loud annoying playgrounds (we have a swing set in our back yard so I avoid those germy fests all costs...lame? ) I dunno I guess I'm just weird and phobia ridden like that?!
But I don't think Zoe and Amelie mind,they're pretty chill in they're own rite.

If you've been following me for awhile now you know that the art of tattooing is something that truly means something very special to me,I don't take it lightly and my tattoo family is just that...my family. I have formed so many amazing friendships through the grapevine of QUALITY tattoo artists I have met. Last summer I was able to work for my dear friend and tattoo artist Jonathan Burdine of Flatline Tattoo in Corinth Mississippi, I learned shop basics of how to run a clean, respectful,quality tattoo shop;through working and learning each day with "JBurd" I was able to learn about a truly amazing living legend in the tattoo and fine art world, Miya Bailey.

Miya Bailey is the owner of City of Ink Tattoos in Atlanta,Ga. When I was first introduced to his fluid,free,soulful,truly beautiful style of freehand tattooing I was in AWE. (all images are from The Miya Bailey Blog/

After a few months of silently following him on twitter, I finally decided to attempt to speak to this amazing painter,tattoo artist,and true visionary. To my shock he was very nice,and we have since then continued a friendly online kinship. Miya inspires me so much because he truly lives his art, he paints, tattoos,inspires,and now he is making a documentary called "Color Outside The Lines"

While I was very thrilled to tell you all last summer about working for JBurd, I did however leave out my BRIEF stint working for another shop at a later date which I will not name. This shop was not run in the quality manner in which I was used to seeing since the age of 18. In the African Ameican tattoo community (and beyond) shitty tattoo artists are called "scratchers" I sadly worked a few weeks at a scratch shop and I was very upset that the ART of tattooing was not taken seriously by everyone who entered into this world. However, the money can come fast and easy and some people don't see art when they "tattoo" they only see dollar signs.

Miya Bailey is not one of those people, yes he is concerned about making money in order to provide for his children and move forward in life...I don't think anyone wants to be a "starving artist" but Miya, has a love for art I actually can't truly grasp in my early stages of being an artist. But it is a passion and love of art and creativity and educating those around him that has led him to create this truly inspiring documentary. It is a tool to spotlight various artists of color as well as a tool to teach people of all races about the art of tattooing that Miya has grown to be a leader in, the stories of truly amazing artists we may never have learned about.

One day hopefuly soon (the feeling is growing and growing) I will have the honor to let him tattoo my entire right arm(yes I love his art THAT much) until then, I will have to find daily inspiration from him and his TRUE love of art and the world of tattooing.

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
. My oldest son likes my tattoos. Most of the time he is the first one to notice when I get a new one. My youngest son doesn't say too much only when they are fresh he says "ouwie?" lol

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom likes them actually. She thinks they are pretty. She wasn't too fond of me getting them anywhere visible but now that I have more on my arm, she doesn't mind it.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
I don't get too much reaction from other parents. Hopefully no one is offended by my artwork, and if they are, then to each their own. I am blessed enough to have open minded family and friends who have kids my sons ages and were all really accepting of each other whether a mom has tattoos or not.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
No not really. They're a little hard to hide anyways. Especially when its hot lol.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
I have 3 dedicated to my children. I have a Yo Gabba Gabba Plex robot for my son Logan, and a dirt bike rider for my son Trevor. I recently just got a new one of a mama owl with two baby owls. I'm sure I will get a few more for them also.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
I'm sure I will be right there next to them when they get their first tattoo. I will defenitly have a talk with them first though, and let them know the consequences of getting tattooed (I.E.- they're permanent, they're addicting lol, get something you will NEVER regret, and get something tasteful and not tacky). Once they get the lecture, then I'm all for them getting tattooed.

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
Thankfully, I didn't have any tattoos change during my pregnancy, I'm sure mine would have been maimed considering I was as big as a house during my pregnancy lol.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
I have been blessed with amazing friends who are all very accepting. As far as new moms/dads go, for a person to not look beyond the art I have tattooed on me, they are missing out, because me and my kids are awesome! LOL. All kidding aside, It would be pretty sad though if someone didn't want their kid to play with mine because of my tattoos. But as I said before, to each their own.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
Don't judge someone by their outside appearance, chances are they are way more awesome then most parents lol.

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
I defenitly plan on getting more tattoos. When money and time permits lol.

oh HAAAAI Mr. SUN!!!

Friday I was in a FOUL mood, I mean seriously BAD. I was mainly pissed because our accounts are getting depleted because of my constant zooming up and down the highway for art school (an HOUR away) so yeah gas prices were pissing me off( I won't even tell you how much we spend a week on gas....),Kevin and I were bitching at each other and it was getting HOT outside, oh and let's not forget my allergies were freaking out like whoa....hmmm is that all...yeah I think that about covers....wait no, Zoe and Amelie decided that nothing I did was going to make them remotely happy,so they decided to scream ,yell, fight, bite, kick, and act...INSANE...until I had to say a quick prayer "dear God please help me to figure out something so I don't loose my mind...amen" I went rummaging through some cabinets looking for something...anything to do outside (I really despise being indoors when it's warm or hot, I just like fresh air I guess?) Then, there they were, little gifts from heaven....

Water balloons....PERFECT!! Zoe and Amelie could have a perfectly fair fight...a water balloon fight!!
Like most things involving a 3 and 5 year old it started out pretty fun

But by the last few balloons, it was kinda like this:

hmmmm..... So, we decided to fill up the old inflatable pool

and Zoe and Amelie had a great messy time,and we were all finally happy....thank you sun for shining on us that day!!!

record shopping and antiquing with my bff

Ok I know I've been a lousy blogger as of late, but I've been having fun in the sun doing this and that and much more. So here in a whirlwind of blog updates I'll fill you in on our world as of late....
So my best friend Conchata,

has been my best buddy since about fourth grade. She's a truly lovely dear, who has a heart of goal and a stomach of steel.....(anyone who can put up with me for that long has to be some sort of bionic babe so yeah...) We have been trying to make it a weekly thing to get together at least once a week to do something so a few days ago we went to the antique store our friend Tim has his record booth in and we treasure hunted like pros.

Since Tim has set up his record booth in one of our favorite antique stores , we can kill two birds with one pretty shiny stone and hunt for rare junk and add to our ridiculous collections of records.

My love for old junk has been expressed at various times here on the ol' blog,most of the things I drool over I usually bring home with me,but sometimes there are just a few things I must leave behind,so that I have things to add to long lists of wishes...

At the end of our trip I ended up with some records...

I'm actually very happy that she isn't one for clubs and loud places (unless GOOD live bands are involved) and she doesn't really drink,so that's good for my liver too. It's simple, innocent, time that we get to forget all the drama and responsibilities we have for an hour or two,be best friends,tell secrets,talk major shit,laugh like hyenas at inside jokes no one knows or could ever comprehend if we told them,sing random songs,and be ourselves....
I truly adore getting to spend time with Conchata lately,even if I come home empty handed,having a little time away from the house is always a treat.(and kinda makes me feel like this):

Hello! I am Michelle and I live in Sunny San Diego with my husband, daughter and little pup peanut. My blog is She Said
Can I just say moms rock, whether they have tattoos or not. Mom's that have tattoos just rock a little bit harder.
1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
since my child is only 4 months she can't say much of anything. However, she does stare and "talk" to them a lot. She is particularly fond of my little teal birdie that always falls at her eye level when I am feeding her.

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom is not in love with all the tattoos I get, but she doesn't hate them either. She thinks they are tasteful so far, but just wait until I get the skulls! hahaha. All of her friends (they were all in the military where it is very common) and all my sister have tattoos, so it is pretty accepted in my family. My mom had a harder time with my piercings than my tattoos. She literally told me that if I was living with her that I couldn't have any piercings, but I could get whatever tattoos I wanted. I thought it was kinda funny since tattoos are permanent.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
At first, many people don't talk to me. I just get a whole lot of staring going on. They won't approach me unless I talk to them first, and then even sometimes its just half smiles and awkwardness. I get a lot of people who ask how old I am. Like they think I am 16 and got pregnant by accident and too young and have some wild rebel attitude. I am 26 people! I have tattoos because they are beautiful works of art that can express much more than I can merely through words. And I planned to have my baby too! (Seriously, someone actually told me they thought I was a teenager and was going to reprimand me for having a baby so young)

4. Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
I don't intentionally hide my tattoos unless I am going to a wedding or something where most of the attendees are not tattooed. Because all eyes should be on the bride, not my tattoos! When I first started going to my church, I noticed no one else there had any visible tattoos so I hid mine for a while so that way I wouldn't be judged. As it turned out, everyone was totally acceptable of them :) Oh, and when my husband and I apply to apartments, we hide them because we don't want the landlord/leasing agents to think we are some wild child problem people who are going to be a pain in the butt to rent to.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
YES! My husband and I both recently got tattoos for our daughter. I got antique frame with a "C" for Chloe and her birth date in the middle. It also has her birthstone. It resembles the necklace I made for her and wore while I was pregnant and in my maternity photo shoot.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
I will show them the mess of a tattoo (tramp stamp) I got when I was 18 because I thought I was so cool. It is a bad tattoo and I never want to cover it up because I want to use it as an example for my children. "This is what it looks like to get a stupid tattoo." I will be totally open to Chloe getting tatted up as long as she is smart about her decisions and really understands that it is for life and she understands the affect it might have on other aspects of her life (for instance, the affects from some of the questions you have here).

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
I have always wanted tattoos on my hips, but I knew that the area would get stretched out when I was pregnant, so I have decided to wait until after I have our last child to get them there. My tattoos really had no affect. Most are on my arms and I really didn't gain much wait to notice a difference.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
Right now, Chloe plays with the other babies in our family or at our church, so it has no effect on her right now... it will be interesting when she starts school though.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents know that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
My tattoo is NOT going to magically jump off my skin and attack you when I walk by. Just because I have tattoos doesn't mean I am any different than you. I am just trying to live life the best I can and raise my daughter to the best of my abilities. Judging someone because of they have ink on there skin is like judging someone because of the color of their skin. NOT COOL.

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Heck yes! James and I plan on getting at least one tattoo a year for the rest of our lives! We are going to have a fun collection and I like that most of them will have stories behind them.

New Music Monday

Don't worry your pretty little heads, I have a beautiful Tattooed mommy to feature later on today, but for now Im gonna get your head and ears where I'm at these days (in terms of music)

Ever since I was about 13 years old, I have been in love with the music "no one knows about yet".Music is a HUGE part of my life and it always will be.I went through a "music snob" phase, where I refused to share new music I discovered with anyone but a select few people, for fear of the music getting to the "other" people.But now Im older and could care less,and just want to listen to good music and I'm much better at sharing;)

The art of a "mixed tape" is something so beautiful,and it was the main way my small group of "music elites" shared our music with each other. I'll never forget one of my fave mix tapes (yes an actual TAPE) was left in a shady annoying x boyfriends car on a ride home. (I still miss that tape til this day)Since then, we've grown to cds,and playlists or a simple text "hey check this shit out" So here's a few new bands for you to check out...think of this as my "blog mix tape" to you <3

The first band is a side project for the band "Black Kids" It's a fairly new band called "Gospel Music"

I declared this song to be my "summer road trip song" back in December. I seriously think it's so fun!!

The next band that is causing me happy little fits of dance party madness is "Tennis"

Let me just say, if you are STILL sitting down not atleast tapping your foot...well...I don't know ?! This song is so adorable! Tennis does have a bit of a Best Coast feel to it, but it's cute enough to stand on it's own, without comparison, I can truly see myself, eyes closed dancing in my own little world to a live version of this song.

The next band isn't really "new" but they aren't that well known. The "New Bloods" are a very unique 'girl group' They have a very interesting sound that I have yet to hear anywhere else.(they also have the neatest flyers for their shows)

The last band I'm going to share with you today, is a very unique band in that I go to school with it's two members. "The Vignettes" are an amazing group I have yet to see live (I will later this month, I CAN'T wait)

My name is Delane Lyn Rineer of life of a mombieI live in Southern California, Oceanside to be specific with my boyfriend of almost 7yrs and our 3 kids. My kids are amazing and probably the most animated kids you will meet thanks to their dad and I. I am a SAHM and my boyfriend is a Tattooer at Frontline Tattoo in Oceanside Ca. My kids seem to enjoy them. They like to draw tattoos on their body and on my body. It is cute when they see others with tattoos because they shout out MOMMY TATTOOS. As if I am the only mother with them in their eyes.haha.

My mom..lol..I don't think she minds.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
Some look or I should say stare but, that could be because they are admiring or because they dislike what they see. Honestly I do get alot of positive feed back when parents do approach me especially with my Yo Gabba Gabba leg sleeve. It is a hit when i go to disneyland.lol

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
No my tattoos are apart of my body and apart of me like skin with decorations.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
I sure do. I have My eldest daughers name tattooed on me 3 times.In an poorly tattooed diamond(which i am getting lasered and re done), her name is the name of my pirate ship on my upper thigh, on the sides of my hands i have her name is script. For Scarlet i have her name in script as well on the sides of my hands and plan on getting another actual piece and not just her name tattooed on me. Now for Dexter and Draven I haven't yet. i will be getting the piece for them for my next tattoo.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
Heck I will love it.LOL. Who wouldn't want to share a love for tattoos with their kids. Not to mention I would love it if all of my youngest tattooed like their dad does.

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
I felt the same about them before and after. I don't have torso yet but, I will be getting my ribs done before summer begins. I must say good thing for tattoos because my last 2 kids the boys gave me major stretch marks on my stomach and I will be tattooing my whole stomach just to cover those up.OHH the joys of mother hood.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
I don't know about their actual social life because the women who i am friends with and parents that my kids play with will be with parents that are excepting of our life style. If people are not going to let their kids play with my kids because we are heavily tattoed then they are not people I want around my kids..Judgemental before even knowing me as a person and my kids as little people.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom know?
To those parents realize we are just parents like you raising our kids to the best of our ability. Don't judge a book by it cover.

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Do i plan on getting more tattoos...Well yes of course I do.I plan on having a full body suit. I want to be covered all over. I still have room left and that will fill quickly.
My plans for the next few are as follows.
ribs: Dead of the dead skulls and roses all up my ribs.
Throat/Neck I am getting done by Luke Wessman of Luckys Tattoo in San Diego and amazing artist. I will be getting a pocket watch on my throat and roses on the sides of my neck all one huge piece.
My inner arm is for the boys: not sure yet what i will be getting but, i will come up with something..

Saturday's best. (fun forts part 3!)

Saturday the weather was like this:

Friday night I promised the girls I'd build them a fort to sleep in, (You know our love of forts

However, Amelie fell asleep too early Friday night to get the fort built in time.But, in keeping with tradition for rainy yucky weather, I constructed a fort early in the afternoon for my dynamic duo:)

It was a bed side fort and it was very fun to make (I went all out on the lights,and mustered up some flags from various other times and events and viola! Comfy,cozy, kick back, style fit for two little princesses :)

No I aint fakin the funk on this blog NO WAY, I must fill you in on the real deal! After about ten minutes I decided to take ashower, (I mean the girls were in their super fly fort with not a care in the world right....? WRONG!!! As soon as I started the water, I heard them fighting over toys,yelling,crying screaming......yeah "THAT" type of stuff..So I yelled from the shower to stop whatever the hell it was they were fighting about and Kevin had to come in from playing his PS3 to regulate....hmm...yeah so much for magic forts huh?
Needless to say after dinner, the girls decided it might be nice to use the fort again,so I made a deal with them that if they cleaned up their room, they could watch a movie in the fort and sleep in it or whatever,so fun fort version 3.o round 2, went a little bit better:) Kevin hooked up my grandma's old teensy tiny tv for the girls to watch a movie

or some reason the Monsters Inc dvd wouldn't p;ay,so we kicked it straight old school with one of my gem of a gem,Pee Wee's playhouse dvds (say whaaaa?!)

It was a hit for the girls...and myself :)

So after all the fun fort day turned out to be pretty fun after all.

Saturday What We Wore.

This is the Saturday we went out to eat ice cream at the old fashioned ice cream shop.There was a fun little caboose that was the perfect setting for our pictures so we had to snap a few. Sadly we didn't get one together because my tri pod died.BOO! :( Anyway,here we are!

birthday shinanigans!

So our sweet friend Cres had her birthday a few days ago.(sorry about the picture quality I used my crappy camera and some pics are from camera phones WOMP!

Her and her husband Jay are good friends of ours,

so even though we rarely venture out and about after dark, we made our way to her birthday gathering anyway.
Even though going out on the town at night (when music isn't involved really isn't our scene anymore,) it was good to see some old friends and celebrate our good friends birthday.

When you grow up, get married,have kids,etc(especially when you have kiddos) you really start to find out who your true friends are. Lately it's been hard to sort through who is a true friend and who just wanted to hang out and party (even if they are parents themselves) Jay and Cres aren't parents (well they have lots of animals) but they are truly great friends, they know how to have a good time, but they are also very successful, kind,are really cool people. The sweetest thing about the two is that they are in a (not so sweet death metal band together) But still how cute is that? All in all they are some of the few friends who are truly real.When you become a parent (especially a young "different" parent it can be hard to connect with people.That's a lot of the reasoning behind my "Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays" feature, to connect mom's that may seem a bit different and at times may feel isolated and at a loss for real connections. When half your friends want to party all the time and all the other moms are in khakis and are just down right dull,it's hard to find the right spot to fit. Luckily, I have some solid friends that aren't going anywhere,and luckily, I was able to weed through the super flakes!

Well will you look at that,we're moving right along to the 5th installment of this feature!

Today I'm very happy to feature another old school live journal friend of mine! This mama has an eye for all things vintage and antique and I'd like to take a room or two from her house and politely switch it to my house! (killer style!) So, I will now introduce you to today's pretty painted lady, Candice from the blog ragamuffin design

# of children you have and their names: 1 son named Brewer. he is in kindergarten.

I'm a pastry chef, mommy to Brewer(5), musician's wife, dreamer,
eggshell walker & fair weather friend. I ♥ food, fashion & design.
somtimes I'm an actor & sometimes I sing.
My husband is the current drummer for the band under the flood and
formerly of deepfield.
I was a stay at home mom for 5 years until Brewer started
kindergarten. I didn't go to school for pastry, but its a self taught
passion and it fell into lap. It was kinda a ballsy move and I REALLY
enjoy it! I hope to have my own bakery within the year!
I also deal vintage furniture on the side. I enjoy that about as much
as my restaurant job. I'd say I finally got lucky on the career front!

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
he used to talk about them much more when he was younger. now with a daddy full of tattoos, a mommy with some and almost everyone around him with them...it's 2nd nature.

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
hmmmm, she definitely gets the eye rolling/sighing going when any of her children get another one, but secretly i think she likes them. i refuse to ever cover my "18 year old fairy tattoo" because she says she likes it.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
i've never noticed much of a reaction because so far i only have them on my back, buuuuut during the summer when i go to the beach or the pool it often takes me awhile to realize WHY people are staring at me. oh yeah, i have a big ass tattoo on my back!

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
fuck no...

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
no, i don't. i'm not really sure. i doubt i'd get a portrait or his name, but my husband has a cool idea of getting some of brewer's art work tattooed on him. i think that's a neat idea...i might steal it!

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
it'd have to be a good one ;)

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
the bigger piece came afterwards. i had two while pregnant...the tiny fairy and one that's now covered up(not very well. ugh!)

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
nope, nobody cares. they would worry much more about my filthy mouth or lack of religion!

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents know that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
nah...the less people that want tattoos the better. makes me cooler(*sarcasm*....kinda)

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
oh YES! i have a great friend designing one for me right now based on my gypsy heritage and i have handfuls of visions running through my head. hopefully we can do an update soon!!

sunday sunday SUNDAY!!!

Hello! Happy Sunday to you! Just a quick little update then we are out the door again, to eat with my parents,try starbucks cupcake pops,and I think my sweeties gonna get me the two dresses I scouted out at target yesterday! We've already had big fun at church today,but I wanted to show you some picutres from last Sunday.The girls met their new best friend on the block! THE ICE CREAM LADY!!

We were sitting inside last Sunday, not doing much of anything, when I heard it! The sound of a lone ice cream truck. Now truthfully I wouldn't have paid it any attention had I not remembered the sound of the truck that goes by my art school every day.So I jumped up like a mad woman and made a dash for my change stash and wallet! Zoe, Amelie,and kevin were all a little confused about what I was doing, when i explained to them that I heard an ice cream truck! I could vividly remember being a little girl in California and when we first moved to our Tennessee home, going out (or sometimes not getting to go out) to get a treat from the neighborhood ice cream truck. So, naturally I wanted Zoe and Amelie to have the same super awesome memories too, so off we went!

The girls were in a state of euphoric kiddo shock! "A lady actually comes around with a truck full of ice cream?!"

They made their exchanges and were off to the front stoop to eat their treasures!

The kind lady told us that she would come back every Sunday.So I think we have definitely found ourselves yet another
Sunday Tradition

Fun in the Sun

Fridays weather was a lovely taste of the Spring weather we have to come.Yes,it was a little on the hot side (but that's just what happens in the south) So what, we deal. My day actually started out a little on the grumpy side. If you follow me via twitter you know I had a cold earlier this week, so I really wanted to spend another ay in bed asleep. But, I forced myself up and out and into a fun floral top that just sang:" Hello Spring! Hello Allergy Season! I welcome you!!!"

After letting the girls outside to play a bit, I did some standing around,

then finally ordered some lunch and decided to take Zoe and Amelie to the library.

We made a huge pile of books to bring home (which usually just takes a few seconds because Zoe and Amelie have the "grab any random book and throw it in the pile" method down like true champs! ) So we decided to sit around and read for a bit.

(How cute is that little book?!)
After we read a few books we decided it was time for some cold treats and some fresh air.

We then made our way to the most mellow park in town,where I took in the calm,and the girls chased birds with sticks and yelled loudly....yep...HA!

Nonetheless, I was happy,and the girls were playing not fighting so it was all good.

I really think going to the park was MY favorite part of our little time together because I got a chance to sit in the grass(without having a sneezing fit and read a bit (as well as yell "hey stop that!!" at the girls)

I really don't know what it is lately, but the girls seem to get in to quite a few arguments about pointless stuff,the fresh air seemed to really help them get along a little better.

All in all our Friday wasn't the biggest most super fun day, but we really did have fun simply enjoying the simple things around us and being truly grateful that winter is behind us.

Tween "music" has hit an all time LOW

Ok, most of us amongst the blog world are secretly undercover nerds,and we know everything that's going on in pop culture (how would our tweets be funny without being up to date on what's going on right?) and we see all the latest spoofs going on, Charlie Sheen's "winning rap", Paula Deen Riding various funny animals,etc. But I was a bit confused when I saw this girl "dancing" all over tumblr.

Um....WTF is THAT??! So I got a bit more clarity when my friend sent me a text with a link to this HOT mess of a video

I know I usually don't blog about stuff like this, but as a parent who prides herself in having children that are fans of GOOD music,and know what a record player is,and are truly being taught how great music can be , I just couldn't be quiet about what is happening with the poor youth today.(ha)
I feel sorry for whatever kids think this song is actually cool. Just when you thought Justin Beebs,and Willow Smith whippin' her haor all over the place were gonna drive you crazy,this little fool gives us lyrics like
"kickin in the front seat, kickin in the back seat, gotta make my mind up, which seat should i taaaaaaaaake?!"
OMG....how about ya just sit your lame ass down ANYWHERE and promptly STFU!!! I mean come on people, when I was this age I had the spice girls!

Sure they were cheesy, but secretly we all loved them, and they weren't THIS bad...
.
SERIOUSLY! I would seriously like to meet the tween that thinks this song is good,and promptly take them to the nearest punk show,and some kids squat house,then take them to the hood to learn all about keepin' it real...hell i'd even take them to Nashvilleto learn about country music...ANYTHING but this sorry excuse for music! So folks what's your take on the "greatest horrible lyrical genius" Rebecca Black? I must go listen to the Misfits or something while I recover.

Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays! (version 4!!)

Yay! It's that time again mamas!

I actually think I met Deanna back toward the end of my live journal days and I am thrilled that she is participating! I'm also very happy she volunteered to show everyone that you don't have to be a heavily tattooed mommy to be featured.All art is beautiful and I want to connect with everyone! I totally connect with Deanna's mom refusing to acknowledge her tattoos, (as my mom does the same thing),as well as her living in the bible belt and people being somewhat rude about a lady with skin art. But enough about me,on to the interview!

Hi! I'm Deanna from Delirious Rhapsody
I started my blog when I was pregnant with my second son, mostly as a way to keep in touch with my mother in law who lives across the country, and it just took off from there. I'm married to my wonderful husband, Peppy, and a stay at home mom of two little boys, Gage who will be 4 in July, and Owsley who is 4 months. I definitely find humor in parenting, and a lot of what I blog about are the funny happenings in my life.

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Owsley is still too young to understand what they are, but Gage has been interested in them as long as I can remember. When he was around a year old he would run up to me with markers and want me to draw stars and cars on his chest and arms. Now he tells me that he wants tattoos when he is bigger. So I'm assuming he likes them. :)

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos, what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom hates tattoos. I come from a very religious upbringing, as well as live in the heart of the bible belt. To some people around here, tattoos are still taboo. In her mind, having tattoos is destroying the Lord's temple. My mom knows that I have tattoos, but she just refuses to acknowledge them.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
I've never been told anything negative directly to my face, however, I once worked in a snooty tearoom and as I was leaving a table of mine, I heard a lady say something along the lines of, "She could be so pretty if she didn't have all those tattoos!" (Which in retrospect is kind of funny because I only have a couple that are visible.)

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
I'll wear sleeves to church or when I am doing something with my side of the family, but I don't hide them from my husband's family, or when I go anywhere else.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
I do! I have a mommy and baby owl that was taken from Gage's favorite book when he was a baby. I don't have a tattoo for Owsley yet. But I'm sure to get one in the future!

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
As long as they are of age, I really don't have a problem with it. I just hope that they think about what they want before rushing into anything. I was 18 when I got my first tattoo, and I basically did it out of rebellion. Now I'm stuck with a really crappy nautical star tramp stamp. I only have seven tattoos, and three of them were when I was 18 and thought I was a total badass. So yeah, I hope my kids put a little more thought into it than I did!

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
A ear of my Grateful Dead bear and a wing of my dragonfly grew to pretty extreme measures during both of my pregnancies, but remarkably enough, they both shrunk back to original size. I was pretty surprised.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
I haven't really run into this problem yet.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
Play nice! It's ok if you don't like my tattoos. I may not like your blouse or your haircut, but I keep it to myself!

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Yes, definitely! It's basically just a matter of finances. I've got many more ideas of what I want. For the past few years tattoos have been a treat for myself every February, but since I'm breastfeeding right now I'm going to hold off until Owsley is weened.

Our Saturday

Saturday was actually a nice day as far as the weather was concerned. The sun was shining ,and we didn't have to wear hot coats, hats,and gloves. YAY! So I decided we could surprise the girls with a trip to the old fashion ice cream shop.

It's the cutest little ice cream shop,everything is old fashioned and made Zoe and Amelie very curious about all the old nick knacks laying around.

While they didn't have tons of flavors to choose from like larger chains, they did have the basic favorites ,and fresh made waffle cones mmmmm.(Sorry to any one who is dieting and reading this...;)

Of course the entire experience of eating ice cream in the cute little parlor as I pictured it in my head was completely different once we were actually there sitting down.The girls scarfed their ice cream down insanely fast, people kept looking at me weird cause I was making so many pictures,and the girls decided they should eat our ice cream too....hmm..Besides, Kevin and I enjoyed our ice cream too.

BUT all in all it was a good time and I think I'll keep that little shop in my go to emergency kids entertainment bank for the upcoming summer days.Because we all need a sweet escape now and then.;)

The Urban Farmer

A friend of mine recently posted this Urban Farmers article on facebook about a young urban farming couple and their efforts to bring quality grown and fed foods to their peer group and beyond.
While our family, isn't branching out and doing big farming we do like to dable in garden boxes,flower and vegetable plating each spring. This year is no different, except we are going to expand beyond our garden box and actually make a few larger scale boxes to grow quiet a bit of food this year.

While our actual food from previous years isn't exactly county fair 4-H club blue ribbon winning, it's good food that was fun to grow.
This year we have already planted a slew of organic seeds in indoor planting pods,and are awaiting the days until we can transfer everything outside.

I know this sounds so cheesy but, the first garden we planted brought me so much joy! True, I have grown two precious little humans in my belly, but there's something about growing your own food to feed those little kiddos that makes you so very proud! We do enjoy our trips to the farmers market, but growing your very own salad bar in your backyard, is the most rewarding experience!We do have the benefit of living somewhat in middle of the country, but I think urban farming is possible anywhere.When Kevin, Zoe and I lived in our apartment, Kevin's mom helped me grown TONS of tomatoes in buckets on our patio! (We seriously had so many tomatoes, and herbs, I had no idea what to do with them! So because if this I know without a doubt despite where we live farming on any scale is possible. It also gives the kiddos something to do during the spring and summer and it's an every day activity the whole family can help with! I really urge you to try to grow at least one thing this Spring/Summer. Be it some potted flowers on your outside space, a single vegetable of your choice, or a whole backyard salad bar. I truly can stand behind saying. it will make you very happy! So, go play in some in some dirt and get to growing!!

Intro: My name is Kelly M of This Rock Star Life
I live in Northern California with my husband and our 2 kids. The kiddos keep me very busy, especially when my husband is on tour with his band, All Shall Perish. I am also a photographer, specializing in maternity, baby and kids. Most recently I started a website dedicated to my Birth PhotographyBirth By Kelly which is where my true passion lies.

I have two little lovies: Greyson - 4 years 7months & WinterRose - 10 months

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Greyson seems to like them. Of the tattoo inside my lip he says, "I don't want letters in my mouth, that's too crazy."

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos
My mom has tattoos herself and actually took me to get my first one. She likes them and had more of a problem when I went through my piercing phase.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
I have never had an issue with someone having a problem with them. They either don't have a problem, are too polite for side eyes/comments or I am just too naive to notice.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
No, not at all. I would have to wear long sleeves and a turtle neck, that is not going to happen.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
Not yet, but I do hope to get them started in the near future.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
I think I would be ok with it, but I would encourage them to think long and hard about the tattoos that they want. I love all of my tattoos, but there are a couple I wish I could change a bit :( (example: When I had my snow white tattoo done, I had my artist work around my existing tattoo, I wish I had had it covered instead.

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
I don't have any tattoos on my torso, so that wasn't an issue. I still loved my tattoos regardless, but I did worry that people might think I was trashy looking or make assumptions about me. I suppose they could make assumptions even if I wasn't pregnant, but I cared more while pregnant.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
Thankfully, I haven't. I have an amazing group of mommy friends. We all come from different backgrounds, are different races, different religions, different socio-economic status. There are a few moms that have small tattoos but I am definitely the most heavily tattooed. The commonality of our children is what brought us all together but we have found that we are the same in so many more ways than we are different. I am so incredibly thankful for their friendships

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom know?
Im really awesome and so are my kids, so you're missin out!

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
YES! I want to add to my stars to "soften" them up. I want to work on both sides of my neck and fill up both arms. I wish that I had started at the top of my arm rather than the bottom, as it now feels very unfinished! Hopefully I'll be able to work on some of this before I am 40 ;)

So if you follow me on twitter you know I've been busy with school,funerals,homework etc. (oh and laundry that big mountain of laundry) oh yeah and those two little people named Zoe and Amelie! Yeah I've been sadly overwhelmed and busy. Maybe a bit too busy with life to blog about it? i dunno>?But here I am with at least 2 new blog updates for you lovely folk! Anyhow heres a re-cap of what the Mr. and I wore last Saturday when we went to see Cursive (oh what an amazing show it was!)

I think we both pulled off almost 100% thrifted pretty well! I recently got some really more neat thrifted clothing items I can't wait to wear. I'm really excited about where Kevin and my style is going lately. It's totally 100% out of our heads(but NOT out of our minds ha!)...not much outside influence, I like it. While some people we know may think we are trying to follow trends, we actually aren't . It may sound corny but our fashion sense is at a very organic time for us, a blank canvas, creating looks from our heads, not spending too much, it's fun. Kinda reminds me of this song:

"and we don't care about the young folks

and we don't care about the old folks
talkin' 'bout the old style too

Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays! (version 2!!)

First of all I would like to take a second to give a big THANK YOU to the two lovely moms that have participated in this endeavor thus far! I know as moms it surely isn't easy to keep up with all we have to do,and now here I am throwing all my crazy questions and requests at you! (AH!) So thank you from the bottom of my heart! Ok onward!!!

hello guys, and thank you Adrienne for featuring me. My name is Amy Jean, I'm a fellow blogger/ tattoo artist living in Hawaii. I moved out here almost five years ago and met the most amazing man Jesse. We got hitched and just had our fist baby Jovi James. I am new to being a mom but I'm loving every moment of it. I've been tattooing for 8 years. I work at a local shop in Waikiki called Tattoolicious. I have always had a strong passion for art and painting and so naturally that carried over into getting tattoos. Thankfully tattoos are widely acceptable in Hawaii, but my husband and I still turn heads at church. People don't expect to see so much coverage on bible believing Christians.

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Jovi is only 5 1/2 weeks old right now, so she doesn't say much, but i do catch her starring at my chest piece quite often. I think when she gets older I'm going to get just an outline done so she can play tattoo artist and color it in with markers

2. Since we're on the subject of moms and tattoos,what does your mom have to say about your tattoos?
My mom is pretty amazing, she took me to get my first tattoo when I was 15 as a present for graduating middle school. Something I would never recommend to anyone it's an awful tattoo. That being said she is pretty siked on my tattoos some she like more then others, like my sweet mom heart. She has a tendency to like the prettier more feminine flower tattoos that i have rather then the darker ones.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
Culturally, tattoos are very excepted here in Hawaii. almost everyone has them, so I dont really get many negative reactions. Instead people are really cool about it. Or if they do have a problem they dont let me know about it. My husband works is a volunteer youth pastor and he has more tattoos then I do, the kids love him and look up to him, sometimes the parents are a little standoffish but they always end up loving him too.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
The only time I try to hide my tattoos is when I'm meeting a landlord trying to rent a place or if I dont want to explain them to some drunken stranger at a show or something. Like I said, I live in Hawaii, it's hot here. I live in dresses and tank tops. There is no hiding my tattoos.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
I do not, currently but i plan on getting something. I know it's silly but it's hard finding time to get tattooed when your a tatttoo artist. It's the last thing you want to do on your time off. haha That and i'm not sure what to get yet. I think I need to wait and see more of her personality as she gets older and pick something fitting. Jesse, my husband calls Jovi, Thumper maybe I'll do something with that in mind.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
ehhh, I thats going to be a hard topic. I really think you should wait tell your at least 20 to get tattooed. Working at a shop and seeing what people get when they are young has solidified this belief. that and the fact that i got tattooed so young and hate my early work. I just think you know your self better by 20 and will pickout better designs. But, how do two covered parents one who is a tattoo artist stop there child!! who am i kidding she will probably rebel against us and totally hate tattoos!

7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
Well, the first tattoo I got when i was young and stupid also happens to go across my stomach. I also have two nautical stars on my hips needless to say they got huge while i was pregnant. i was really worried that they were going to be really deformed and ugly afterwards, but, they shrunk right back down and look almost the same. the outlines are a little thicker but all in all they are fine.

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
Because Jovi is still so young i have notice any problems. Hopefully we never will.

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
Just because your tattooed and have a baby doesn't mean you're a drug addict who had the baby out of wedlock in her teen years.

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
yup, tons. i'm going to start moving up my legs next and then start planing out a second sleeve.

thrift stores, antique shops,and old school looks,oh my!

We have been doing some serious, hardcore, thrifting , and antique shopping lately! Why? Because we're hoarders that like to collect old crap? ...hmmm... partially,but we are also in the process of getting a small inventory together to re-open my etsy shop that never really was, "The Green A.Korn" (what's more "green" than re-using old stuff ?!) So, I took a few pictures of most of the stuff we have gotten lately. Some of the things will be for sale, some will be ours to keep. I just thought it would be fun to get an overall view at all the neat stuff we've been getting lately. (Most of it, at least)

(sadly I must hold on to the items in this picture,however, I do have my eye on these cameras at an antique store,the TTV cameras especially)

If anyone would be interested in these types of cameras, let me know and I will list them in the shop!

Like I've mentioned before I've always been in love with old...stuff. These are just a few of the fun items I've collected lately, I also have a lot of vintage clothing and other items I will be listing in the shop that I have collected for years and years.I really hope this is something that will make people happy,and other collectors are able to find items in my shop they can enjoy. I would really like to get more into vintage clothing,as I have never really 100% pursued that side of vintage,and antique collecting. However, Kevin and I did manage to pull off almost 100% vintage/thrifted looks yesterday(I'll do another post about the run down of everything later, but here's a sneak peak at what we wore to see Cursive Saturday night!

And because I may never know the love of junk collecting or inappropriate jokes;as a child I grew to love the funniest junk collectors of television history, "Sanford and Son" (thanks Dad!)

Date Night Diggs

We are mucho excited about my mom and dad letting the little bits spend the night at their house,so we can go out and dance freely to live music and at some point stuff our faces with Indian food. Since the show is tomorrow night I don't really have any "what we wore pictures" yet...(duh) So I'll show you guys what we wore a month or so ago on our date night.

As most of you moms and dads know, date night are pretty huge and very important.Sometimes however on said date nights, us poor moms and dads don't exactly know what to do sans kiddos. Like for instance the night we wore the before pictured outfits.We went out to eat(after we volunteered to pick my parents and the girls dinner up) then we went home thinking we would watch some tv before heading out for slices of pie and coffee...however, "tired parent syndrome" set in and we...fell asleep?! How LAME is that? Ha! So needless to say, we are very excited to see cursive tomorrow night but I have no idea how we will fare in our old element of "the show" Wish us luck that we don't fall asleep at mid performance of the openers! I'm sure the majority of the night will eb spent talking about cute stuff that Zoe and Amelie did,and I'm sure at some point we will end up somewhere that has something I just have to get them. But all in all it will be nice not to have to go home and give baths,read stories and have bed time drama like every other night.I'm not sure when we will get to go out on another date night after tomorrow night, so I will try my very best to have FUN ! (you have my "tired parent syndrome" promise on that!

"home is whenever i'm with you" ( a whole 'lotta' pictures!)

Our most favorite thing to do, is any and everything...together. Yeah I know, super cheesy, but it's true, whenever the "Kor 4" are all together we have somany adventures.Some small, some great, but the only thing that matters is that we are together as a family. Last year was a very rough year for us, our family ties were tested, but we seem to have come through slowly but surely on the other side, all together, all madly in love with one another (even though we all fight, yell, scream, get mad, slam doors,etc from time to time at the end of the day, we are all most happy being with each other. Our most favorite things to do as a family, are spur of the moment trips, to places near and far. When the mood strikes, we get on the move. A few weeks ago,a day that began as a small day trip turned into an over night trip to our favorite city in Tennessee (a place that is on our list of places to move once the girls are a little older) Nashville, Tennessee. We truly love Nashville,and I think the girls had a splendid time.
We started our day off with a must have family photo shoot :)

By the time we FINALY got on the road to Nashville, we decided it would be a better trip if we just spent the night.So we looked up hotels and found the Renaissance hotel in the heart of downtown Nashville and booked a room ...from the car (classy eh?) Afte a few minutes of yelling about which way to turn and swearing my iphone wasn't acting properly, we finally made our way to the hotel.

That night we let the girls swim in the pool (which we had all to ourselves). Drove around Nashville and Brentwood, and went to the mall in Franklin. The next day we had a plan of action for our day, and it went something like this:

Science center in the after noon:(which btw was horrible because it was filled with yucky loud un ruley tweens! (yuck!)

Mommy Has Tattoos Mondays!

Yay! I'm so excited to introduce this new feature on the Little A.Korn Blog!

As a mommy who adds to her tattoo collection more and more I find myself facing challenges in fitting in with the other moms at Zoe and Amelie's schools ,at church,and just while being out and about in our (small) town.So, I decided to start this feature to connect you all with moms you already may know via the blog world and some close friends of mine as well. All, are ladies who have tattoos (some a lot, some a few) and are all AWESOME moms I truly admire.

I originally thought I would be the first mom on this feature, but I held out for the one mama who's tattoos I LOVE and who all in all is a lovely ("unfiltered" )mommy blogger, I truly admire.

Ok enough small talk let's get to the feature! Heres my very first interview with Jessica of The Doe or The Deer

1. What do your children have to say about your tattoos?
Zoe, loves to point out all the different animals on me. Ezra, well... He doesn't say much, he's still a baby blob.

I was disowned for a few years, because she had discovered them though a friend of hers who found me in several tattoo magazines. I had hid them from my mom since I was 17 and she had never actually "seen" them until 6 years ago when I showed up at her door in a bikini. Shock and awe was the only way to cure her disgust. And now? She doesn't even notice them anymore.

3. How do other un tattooed moms or parents react to your tattoos?
Anyone 40 years old and under seem to have no problem with me. In fact they always want to talk about what they "want to get". Not to say that there isn't some moms who give me the side eye when they first meet me, but once they get to having a conversation with me, they realize I'm no different than any other mommies.

4.Do you ever try to hide your tattoos from your child's teachers,friends parents, etc?
The only time I ever try to hide them is at the grocery store. Just so I can avoid any conversations with bro's about my "sick tatz". I just want to get my shopping done, dude.

5.Do you have any tattoos dedicated to your children?If not do you plan on getting any?
Not yet!!! But I have plans to... I'm not gonna say what though, because I don't want anyone to snatch up my steez.

6. How will you react if and when your children start getting tattoos?
Cry.
7.How did you feel about your tattoos during and after pregnancy?(I have stomach tattoos so that was interesting to say the least!)
Nothing ever changed with the looks of my tattoos during or after pregnancy, but I sure got the stank eye from old ladies when walking around pregnant. Like they couldn't believe I was procreating, because I was obviously a "white trash welfare case". Trust me, they got the stank eye right back at them. ;)

8. Do you think your tattoos effect your child's social schedule (for instance Sam's mom doesn't really want Sam to play with your child because of your tattoos) Have you ever faced this type of challenge as a tattooed mom?
Unfortunately, I don't get a lot of offers for playdates from other mommies I know and I don't think it has much to do with my tattoos either. I need some mommy friends, with a good sense of dry, sarcastic humor... Anyone wanna hangout?

9. Is there anything you would like to let those un tattooed parents that may judge you as a tattooed mom?
I bake some seriously delicious red velvet cupcakes. PLEASE be my friend. (<-Too desperate?)

10. Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Like duh! Totally. I've got another arm to finish, 2 legs to get started on and the other side of my neck left to do. Plans, BIG plans.

Zoe Kravitz, I love your style!

So it's very rare I talk about anything on the Little A.korn blog other than things pertaining to my daily life,but since our very own little Zoe was kinda sorta named after rock star daughter Zoe Kravitz, I figured, it's kinda family, daily life related, right?! ...Eh? Ok let's do it!

The mood I'm in fashion wise, has changed drastically since my days of dresses, skirts,cardigans,bows and anti-jeans! It's a bit more laid back,a bit more wanderlust,a bit more grown up.So, as of lately I'm really digging the style of Miss Zo Kravitz! Some of the pictures are old,some are fairly new. I hope you find a little inspiration in them, just as I have.

If all their other songs were similar to this they would surely be a summer go see band!

A Trip to the old country store

There's a local tourist attraction we go to every now and then simply for their kick ass southern food buffet.So when my parents invited us to eat the breakfast buffet there this morning we were all game to go. The tourist attraction I am referring to is Casey Jones railroad museum and Old Country store. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I looked around the gift shop. There were tons of things I wanted to buy right then and there!

A-Thrifting I will go

Ever since I was in 7th grade, I have been in love with thrift stores,antique stores,and vintage stores.The idea of getting some of the neatest stuff for a sometimes super low price was very appealing for me in my young age,and the older I got, the more the thrill of the hunt amongst all the "old" stuff delighted me. As a thrift shopper I have gone through different "phases" When I first began vintage shopping I like to get old floral sixties dresses (looking back these were truly ugly frocs) an I thank my dear mother for allowing me to go browse trough racks and racks of these neon colored dreamy dresses,and even further,allowing me to wear them to middle school each day! I later fell in love with men plaid pants,I have always been a short,small in stature girl, so I would have to cut the hems off the [ants and rock them with airwalks and band tees.(this was my 9th grade look) Then I moved onto silly tiiight vintage tees,antique bubble gum machines,purses,etc etc. I am now in love with thrift store unicorns,owls,shoes,glasses,etc. I thought I wold share a few of my latest thrift store scores with you guys!

I literally squeeling in the middle of the aisle when i saw this cute little unicorn :) And it was a whooping 50 cents!!!

I got these cute little flats for $3.99 and I plan to wear them in Valentine's day.

These boots were a score from today,and they like the kick ass unicorn were another item that made me squeel in the middle of the aisle!

I also got this cute little owl today.There was a second one,but I left it for another shopper to bring home:)
I would LIVE to be able to go thrifting EVERYDAY but realistically I am able to go about once or twice a week.I don't always find anything, but the thrill of the hunt is what I really like! Another cool thing about the goodwill here is that I get a 10% student discount! Which, on 50% off days makes me get some stuff for practically FREE!!! Do you guys go to thrift stores? Or do you like to do online vintage shopping? What are some of your favorite sites or thrift store scores?

are YOU a Barbie girl?!

So when I was pregnant with Zoe, Kevin and I swore she would never play with Barbies.When I was a little girl I played with Barbies,tons of them.I never got any weird complexes, because of Barbies ill proportioned body,but when I was pregnant with lil' Zoe bear, the idea of her playing with such a prim and proper prissy doll seemed...stupid.

Fast forward,two kids later,and a trip to my mom's house one day two summers ago...this is what our living room floor looks like most days...

Covered in plastic some clothed some un-clothed ...barbies! I'm not really even upset about the fact that the girls play with these dolls,to tell the truth they spend more time coloring and painting or making up things to play than they actually spend playing with barbies.

And in all actuality, it's not as bad as my 21 year old self thought it would be.

And I must admit,I do like playing barbies with them...but shh don't tell my angsty teenage self that!
What about you mom's and dad's? Do you let your daughters (or sons) play with Barbies? Are you in fear of them becoming..."Barbie Girls"?

Snow Day!

We live in Tennessee;it snows here,but not that much.So when the weather people say there's going to be snow,there's usually a mass panic of Tennesseans running to the grocery store in search of milk,eggs,and bread.I've never quite understood the logic in these three "essential" items...I mean when I'm at home I dont say "mmm I sure could go for a yummy cup of milk and a egg... sandwich?" I mean really people!! But anyway, the point of that mini rant was to say that we don't get much snow, so when we do schools close and kids stay home and play in the little bit of snow that gets dumped on us. In keeping with true Tennessee tradition, we did just that! Our yard was covered in a few decent inches of snow,

just enough to play for a while and make a snow man.

Although Kevin and I were freezing,we scored extra points with the offspring by trudging out into the wet cold morning to frolic in the snow.

how we waste our time

So a few weeks back Kevin and I got inspired to take some fun pics in the back yard. We often joke that we should start our own photography business and move back west....maybe we will one day soon? These pics were really fun to take and have become some of my fave :) (and just aside not I don't smoke it was a prop ...I did I used ot smoke cloves when I was a little scene hardcore kid but not anymore :)(Kevin does however >_<) (I'm on a never ending quest to get him to stop though. Anyway enjoy the pics!

There's something neat about an old red horse barn (and horse) being right in our backyard. Like I said before we constantly talk about moving but don;t know how we would adjust to the noise of the city, the slow country life style has us a bit spoiled.

It's that time again?!

Someone in our house is having her big girl third birthday tomorrow ...and it aint me folks! That's right! Whee baby Amelie turns three years old tomorrow! And guess what mommy hasn't been spending weeks,upon hours,upon sleepless nights planning for the big day...yep thats right; me. Zoe's third birthday took months to plan, I made everything for it and it was all perfectly planned.(Martha Stewart called just to tell me, I had her shitting bricks , it was so good) ...well...on one of those late planning nights,I dreamed she did at least. I admit I do have a theme in mind,and Kevin and I did make our shopping rounds today for all the party goods. The g-parents have been called to tell them I'll give them their invites at the actual party(ha!) and the presents have been wrapped. But for some reason, I feel like lame-o mommy numero uno. The un spoken pressure to have the PERFECT kids party is this blood written code in the school of moms. I mean where did this come from?! Why do we feel the need to have perfect parties for tiny little people that could care less as long as the actual party looks somewhat fun, the cupcakes are full of sugar, and the presents are cool. While the intentions of throwing "the perfect" party are all good, do we sometimes feel our children are forgotten and the quest to have mommy playground, play date bragging rights are all we can see?Not to mention shows like "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" "Tori and Dean" to name a few give us examples of moms spending enough money to feed a small country on one, one year olds blow out event make us feel as if we aren't doing enough. I'm not saying all moms should have trains that chug up and down the imported astro-turf lawn , conducted by a trained Rare Asian monkey to be a good party. /but how much is too much and how much is just enough for or beloved offsprings day of birth celebrations?
Ok...that's all I have to say about that, I have some streamers to hang and cupcakes to bake!

Zoe and Amelie got what seems to be a million and ten coloring books,paint sets,and craft supplies for Christmas. This post really has no major purpose other than, Zoe was sitting at the table the other day painting and she looked so very colorful compared to the dark grey winter day. She had just been outfitted with her share of cute little temporary tattoos, and my cousin just left a gift of silly bands at our sleeping door, which Zoe promptly put on her already art adorned arm.

It just seemed so magical...a true 5 year old moment...paints,bracelets,temporary tattoos,owl pjs...the good life!

So like many parents without babysitters or spouses that work odd shifts , we spent our NYE at home. Kevin had o go to work later in the night . So I decided to have a "party" with Zoe and Amelie . Christmas Craft Space

So, after my review board meeting Friday at school I will officaily be done with my first magical semester at art school &hearts Naturally the first space I decided needed cleaning in my tornado ravished of a home was my craft space...) heres a peek at some cute corners of where I like to create :)

House building the new fangeled way...

So for the past few years we have had gingerbread house building time, when the Christmas season begins. However, this year, my December has been full of getting last minute assignments ready,and studying like a mad woman for the last few weeks of this semester. So, I was pleased when I found a foam gingerbread house making kit at the store! Last year, my sahm self would scoff at the idea, but this year, my sleep deprived, coffee drivin, student mommy self said "hey thats a BRILLIANT idea!!" So, judge me not :( Zoe and Amelie got a thrill out of sticking the shiny foam dots all about the house

(as soon as dear ol mom figured out how to put it together properly) (some things never change..I usually have a miserable time trying to get the gingerbread panels to stick together too?!)

(and yes Amelie added all those bows to her hair ALL by herself oh me!)And the result, was a pretty pink inspired gingerbread house of sorts(that little ones are unable to pry candies from and eat in secret in their rooms) leaving parents to wonder "where'd all the gum drops go on the gingerbread house?!"

School is coming to an end,and we are getting back into the groove of making things for fun, not for deadlines or grades,and things are starting to resemble some normalcy *knock on wood* because these last few months have truly tested us to no end.
I hope everyone is having a warm, safe,Christmas-y weekend with lots of cookies and coa coa and hugs and kisses...oh a a little shopping too!!

So, what better way to step back into my little blog than with a big ol' post of little a.korn craft goodness?!
I am gearing up for the Memphis College of Art's Holiday Bazaar! And I'm also re-opening my Neely house booth!! So I'm going to give you all a sneak peek at all my adorable goodies! And yes I will be re-opening my etsy soon! (See told ya it was good new all around!)

EEEP!!! Aren't they adorable?!?! These lil' cuties will be at both my Neely House Booth and at the Memphis College of Art Holiday Bazaar. (Nove. 19 at 6pm-9pm) And Nov. 20 10 am-3pm)

And another new goody to the world of little a.korn, handmade soap! I've been making soaps for a long time now, so I decided to see how they do in my shops.

I'm also very pleased to have lots of cute new styles of felt hair clips. Of course I always design with little ladies in mind (both old and young) These clips can go in little girls hair,or be clipped to their mommies jackets or their grandmother's purse!

The K4 went hiking....oh my!

If you knew me in "real life" you'd know I don't spend much time outside unless Im planting stuff in my garden or outside in short bursts. I've never been camping,and the last time I went hiking, I was a little kid in California...so yeah. When Kevin asked if we could all go hiking , my first thought was..." I can't wear a dress hiking...what will i wear?!" ...yeah I know..But after a bit I thought it might actually be fun,and since Kevin would be there I wouldn't get attacked my any critters (and oh yes we saw PLENTY "critters" on our hike!

I was a little afraid that we would get lost...I even thought of tying little red ribbons to trees to help us get back...LOL ...yes I'm serious!

But there were plenty of signs telling us where to go so it wasn't an issue,that and Zoe's friends dad is the park ranger and if all else failed we could just call him on the phone!

We also had a handy map. So with the getting lost situation under control, we were ready to go!

Zoe and Amelie were utterly THRILLED to go on a hiking day trip! They could run and be as loud as they wanted! What more could a kid ask for?!?!?

And as you see, I solved my dilemma of what to wear and actually wore...shorts!
Kevin even got in the picture taking mood and sharpened his eye, which came in handy when he spotted the SNAKE!!!!

All in all it was an amazing fun day and we are even planning a CAMPING adventure of sorts soon!!!

So back during the summer when I was working at flatline tattoo. I would pass by this old shack of sorts. It had all these crazy old signs and gas tanks and STUFF. I would nearly run off the road every time I passed just to get a better look. But I dare not stop to take pictures since it was out in the middle of no where! So , the other day Kevin and I went on a date and we ended up venturing out that way to take some pics....

I still have no idea what the little shack actually is, or if any of the old signs or for sale, but I do know I am hopelessly in love with all that old junk and can't wait to go take more pictures of the shack and other neat stuff out in the middle of nowhere.

My fair ladies.

So a few weeks ago, we all headed to the fair.

It was insanely hot that day and I think as a whole we all spent more time complaining about being hot that anything else. But all in all we had fun. I had my funnel cake (thats all that really mattered anyway...funnel cakes..right?!)

Zoe and Amelie rode countless dizzy rides,

Kevin stuffed his face with some sort of hot dog thing with grilled peppers on it and I took too many pictures. Translation the perfect way to end what had started to be a very sad day.
But I don't know who can be sad at the fair?

Whenever the fair comes to our town we all know (no matter how hot is is at the time) that Fall is well on it's way.

Kevin and I fought back the urge to jump on rides ourselves and we even wandered inside to see the "fairest of the fair" girls warming up for competition (lots of piano solos and pop songs were being sung)
I suppose we all had enough fun at the fair to hold us over until next year.

Our anniversary date part dos!

So i know you probably are pretty grumpy with me and my little blog here! But know that I've been busy at school making beautiful things for beautiful grades!

The second part of our date was the most fun! For the longest time I've bugged Kevin about getting me the perfect cruiser bike. One day my dad heard my whining and told us that he still had my childhood bike and another bike in the garage, they weren't cruisers but they were bikes and they were free! So we decided to take them out for a spin.

A big question I had was , was the old saying true "You never forget how to ride a bike?!" After a few moments of contemplation....

I took my chances, and lo and behold I still remembered! YAY!

Kevin wasn't too shabby either! He said he was more use to riding mountain bikes but the ten speed was neat too.

Zoe and Amelie also took their (pimpin') tricycle out for a spin. Amelie wasn't too happy (She just woke up) poor baby!!!

I am truly in love with the "art of bike riding"! I've been riding here and there when i have a rare spare moment, in fact all this talk about riding bikes is making me want to go for a quick spin around the neighborhood?!?!? I look forward to more fall bike riding dates with the Mr.

Big P, little p,what begins with P? our anniversary Part 1.

So, Saturday was a very important day for us, Kevin and I had our 5th wedding anniversary! wowza!

I've had these shoes FORVER and yes they've always said that lol.
Since I've been so busy with school and work lately, we decided we would take the girls along with us on a picnic,playground romp,and family bike ride. This entry will be devoted to the picnic side of the fun, as to not overwhelm you with a million pictures! ;)
It was a simple affair indeed (a lot like our wedding) As you all know we are suckers for picnics and sunshine. We decided to mix it up this time and go to a park we never really go to. It was way quieter than the other parks we frequent, which was good for relaxing since our week was so stressful.

Thre is something so magical about eating food on a blanket under the sun...

However,every day is getting cooler and cooler and soon we wont be able to chow down in the sun. Hopefully we can get in a few more picnics before fall officially sets in, in the south... but after that atleast we'll have the memories(and chances for indoor picnics)

So I know I've been blogging MIA for a while now!:( School, is kicking my hiney, and as i type this, my throat is raw and my nose is runny (Oh sickness has found me:( However, I want to try to do a few updates today to let you lovelies know what's been going on in my little world...(if my computer will cooperate...So to ease back into it all I'll start off with a fashion update :)
I'm really happy with the direction I've been going with my fashion lately, since money hasn't been flowing , I've been mixing old, with somewhat new to get different looks and frequenting the thrift store to get my "new" clothes fixes. I do however plan on getting some Fall items soon and I am stoked about the CHEAP purchase I made today: two pair of suede ankle boots, and three pair of tights for $15.77!!!! Oh the joys of working in retail and reaping the clearance benefits!

Date night/day :)

A few weeks ago Kevin and I got to do the very rare...we went on a date!

Having two kiddos and insanely busy schedules sometimes makes it hard for us to find chances to just spend time together. So on this day we decided to let my parents watch the girls and we "hit the town"! After much debate on where exactly we should go (I mean come on folks these dates are few and far between, we should have just hopped a plane to an island!!! Since we never know when we will get our much adored alone time together) But we settled on our favorite vegetarian restaurant, and piled our plates high with organic veggies...MMMMM!!!

It was good to sit and talk about things other than bills,money,kids,work,things that need to be fixed,money,time management,did I mention money? Yeah it was nice to have a break from all that stuff! Kevin and I truly do not have a perfect relationship, we fight HARD, and we love HARDER , I'm surely not trying to paint a perfect picture of our relationship on here, but I am emphasizing that we do love each other and despite of our down times we are committed to trying our best to make this work. And one sure way for this is every now and then sneaking off for quick dates together to remind ourselves how great it is to not have to be so responsible and just be in love.:)

So, after we devoured our salads and pastas and had lovely conversation, we decided to head to the book store.

Kevin hunted through the stacks of pretty books and I settled on glossy copies of art and fashion magazines.

We soon decided we wanted to get in some retail therapy so we headed to our favorite thrift store. Kevin got army pants and a shirt,and I got this cute skirt and belt:)

All in all it was a good simple date...now all this talk about dating makes me want to go on another one, with Mr. K...hmmm maybe I'll ask him out for Saturday?! (Let me check my schedule) ;)

silly face fun for a silly cheap price!

A few weeks ago, Zoe, Amelie and I got a chance to play with a cheap little toy I picked up at target the other day.

Silly faces sticker set! It was a whoopin $2.99! And the stickers can be moved around again and again so basically it's the toy that keeps on a-givin'!
YAY!

Here's what we had to work with...

I really liked this toy because it allowed for imaginable play for Zoe and was easy enough for Amelie to manipulate and work with her hand coordination with moving the stickers to different places.
Having children that are at different age levels and trying to find toys they both can play with can be a bit challenging, so I was very happy to find something they could both play with alone or together with very little help from me.

I have such a great time playing with my little princesses, every little thing we do together becomes purely magic. And with me becoming more and more busy with things outside of the house, any time I get to spend with them is truly golden. I do honestly miss the days of my life as a SAHM, but now that I work, go to school, etc., I feel that I cherish the times I get to spend with Zoe and Amelie even more. So, simple toys like this mean the works to us, and hours of fun stories we can come up with for the little people they create!
But anything that makes these two faces happy is well worth it!

Especially when they make silly faces like these:

I've said this so many times on here that I don't think it takes millions of dollars to make kids happy,the simple act of spending time with them can mean the world to toddlers and small children.:)

long time no post...(the lazy Kornelsons Sunday style)

About two weeks ago something unheard of in a Sizzling Southern Summer happened in our little abode....THE AIR UNIT DIED!!!! Now some of you may be thinking "oh goodness Adrienne people CAN survive without an AC unit!!" WEll....yes they can but not on the hottest summer days in Tennessee when the heat index is 120!!!!!!!!!! So after the girls and i got home from church and Kevin finally got up (he works wacky schedules and sometimes sleeps during the day for work) we all made a quick trip downtown to our favorite restaurant Green Frog Coffee Company.

For yummy food and cool air!!!

I seriously think its my favorite place to eat in town.And to top things off they have the most amazing chocolate milkshakes that will put a smile on the grumpiest persons face any day! I must note that the sandwich I pictured is called "the fricken sandwich" !! Isn't that funny?!?! It has grilled chicken and truly southern fried pickles on it!! MMMMMMMMM! After we all devoured our food we decided to take a SHORT walk around downtown.

I really love downtowns in any city we are in.There is always such a rich history and so many beautiful old buildings that truly have stories to tell.

Zoe and Amelie really love our downtown adventures, quite a few stores downtown,and Kevin and I have event talked to people about the possibility of us opening a store of our own downtown,but right now we just want to focus on all the things we have going on now and maybe in the next few years that dream will become a reality, For now we just enjoy our family strolls to look at the other cute shops and history that flows from downtown.

I always look back fondly at the memories I have from my childhood in Northern California,I can remember going with my mom to Berkeley to wait for my dad to get off work and we would wait inside the art museum.Maybe this is where my love of art came from, and maybe this is where my need ot go on constant mini adventures with my family started. I hope that Zoe and Amelie will remember all the neat mini exploration adventures we go on when they are older. But I wont worry about things that far into the future ,right now Im satisfied with downtown strolls with my three favorite people.

This up date will be short and simple. But full of lots of pretty colors indeed! So, Thursday I ventured to my shop to get tattooed instead of to work.JBurd and I got started on my chest piece.(This was the first of probably 4 sessions or so.) All in all it took about 3 1/2-4 hours to complete. :) Viola: my cardinals!!!

This chest piece is going to have a lot of meaning for me and my family. Im not sure how my family will actually react to these tattoos this go round, because of what they symbolize, but the symbolism means the world to me. When my grandfather was alive, he would sit at his back porch area each day to feed the birds. can vividly remember him doing this,when he died I'd see one cardinal in the backyard by itself nearly everyday. As the years went on I lost my grandmother, another grandmother,and finally, my last living grandparent passed away. As each of my grandparents passed, the number of cardinals we would see would increase.Now, whenever I see a cardinal I feel as though its good luck...a guardian angel of sorts watching over me. On the day of my wedding four cardinals were sitting in a tree in my parents backyard...so I like to think my grandparents all came to my wedding .<3 Right now the cardinals are symbolic of my grandfathers (since they are both male birds) Next sitting I how to get the Tennessee and Mississippi state flowers on each shoulder (in honor of my grandmothers birth states) Eventually we will add a quote in the middle and a sacred heart and some other decorations. My grandparents were the sweetest people i have ever known (especially my grandmothers) I cant think of any greater way for ME to honor them than, living a pure,honest,loving life and getting this chest piece.

I am very thrilled with the outcome,and really wanna get another session in soon.I'm not sure how my grandparents would react to all my body modifications, my parents have just come to an understanding of them all. But I hope that they would be proud to know that they made my life so much better.And that I want the world to know my love for them,and how their memory is forever on my mind.I also think they would be proud to know that I found a positive outlet to channel my grief instead ofthe negative way I was expressing it from the age of 17-18.

SO our air is out and I'm sitting in the office with a box fan blaring right on me.Needless to say this post will be short and sweet:)
Friday,is when the ac unit finally died, so my clothing choice TOTALLY reflected this! (I didn't wear leggings for the first time in ...EVER!!!)

Forts are for sleeping

A few weeks ago Zoe requested that we all sleep in a fort....if you remember this post from last December CHRISTMAS BED FORT or this post of our super fun table fort...RAINY DAY SPRING FORT! I simply HAD to continue or tradition of super fun forts...

Kevin decided that sleeping on the floor might not help his back problems. so Zoe, Amelie and I stuck it out and had a fort sleepover!

Kevin did however stick around for the movie and snacks so that made us happy.

I cant remember ever making forts when i was a kid.So every chance we get seems prefect to make a memory or two.I hope Zoe and Amelie will remember all the forts and crafts and baking i do with them. Sometimes we don't always have a lot of money to spend on the girls, but I feel that spending time with them is worth more than any toy or material item we could give them.

All this talk of forts and fun has gotten me in the mood to whip up another for my two little sweeties...oh what fun!!!

little a.korn house tour

So I've been wanting to do this for awhile, and this week I finally decided I'd do it! A little house tour of our sweet little house.

The first thing you see upon entering our house...Keys,robots, shoes,and skateboards oh my!

This robot poster is from the children's company "The Land of Nod" I really like to incorporate children's design into our living space (since we have two rockin' little ladies in the house)

This is what you would see looking right in the door.We used to have a fish tank on top of the little black tanle but slowly our poor fishies passed away.So now I just use the table to hold my bubble gum machines,books,n such.

The pictures above the table are: robots,babushkas,Kevins Teenage Mutatnt Ninja Turtles comic from his childhood,and the stencils JBurd (my boss and tattoo artist) used to do my feet tattoos :)

Today a thunderstorm has FINALLY come about (Thank God!!) It's been 100 + degrees here ALL week!! Yesterday I'd had enough! I had to go to target to get Amelie some diapers and I really had no clue what to wear, so this is what I can up with to beat the heat...

our yesterday...(a picture narrative)

Yesterday was a very neat day indeed. The Mr. and I had to trek down the highway to go to my school (*squeel!!!!*) We were scheduled for a private tour and we had to tie up some lose ends with the financial department.

But before we could hit the road we had to stock up on proper snack of course!

An hour later after many laughs courtesy of XM satellite comedy stations, we arrived in Memphis.

However, once in the proximity of where we needed to be, I decided I should use the iphone map app (improperly) on my phone.Needless to say we made a place we knew the location of ,all confusing and got "lost" , we were'nt 100% lost, we simply turned around (put away all electronic devices and a few minutes later we were back on track)
Yay!

From then we just followed all the cute signs until we arrived at our final destination.

After talking over some financial things,signing papers,and getting my super awesome school shirt, we got to ride in an awesome van to go tour the school.

Ha ha neat huh?
Memphis College of Art in all its artistic glory! Yay!!

Once inside the school I was overwhelmed (in a good way) at all the amazing programs offered and all the SPACE students get to work in. I was also very excited to learn that students can take one elective per semester which can be anything from,jewelry making, to welding!! EEEP be STILL my heart!
And of course I was inspired by all the neat art that was left around (most things were moved out since it's summer break)

After we were done with the tour and the lovely lady who gave us the tour and myself had fully discussed her super cute urban outfitters sandals,it was time to eat.We went to one of my favorite places in Memphis,The Memphis Pizza Cafe.

It's a very small cute little place i was introduced to years ago by a friend. The atmosphere is very fun and homey and they have super amazing pizza!

After devouring our ENTRE pizza!!!! We were two happy campers and we headed out to hit the road back home.

However, we decided to make a quick stop at the mall and I ended up getting a cute dress from Charlotte Russe. All in all it was a very good day, it was nice to get to spend time with Kevin without the tiny tots around.I can NOT wait to start school in a few weeks.I know the drive will be tedious but the end reward is totally worth it!

summer fun oh the cheap!

All moms know it. That moment where you want to yell at the top of your lungs , you feel like you've been cleaning all day, yet the house still looks tragic,and the kiddos...oh boy the kiddos are just about to kill each other. Well, last week I was at that point so after swim lessons, and dinner I promised Zoe and Amelie they could go outside with a few bowls of "homemade sidewalk chalk paint" It's the cheapest easiest kiddo occupier I use all summer and spring. The recipe is simple:
stir together equal parts cornstarch and water then stir in food coloring, get a few brushes and take it outside!!

Pretty colors all ready for two tiny tot artists to tag up the side walk:) Amelie has the dump-it method,she kinda gets the brush in the paint and plops it on the sidewalk.

Zoe on the other hand likes to concentrate,take her time, and paint letters,up and down the side walk.

Now, both kids are perfecting their specific artistic sidewalk painting skills,whats a mom to worry about?! hmmm....in Tennessee? MOSQUITOS!! So,while Zoe and Amelie painted,I "painted myself and them with bug spray....ICK!!!

However, I'd much rather only have to worry about fighting off mosquitos than breaking up another tiny tot fight.
So after an hour give or take a few minutes, like most activities, the girls got tired and grumpy and it was time to pack it all up and head in the house.

Kindie rock and Kid hop...

Kevin and I like to consider ourselves fresh, young, progressive, somewhat fun parents. I am 26 and kevin (just turned 28 today HAPPY B-DAY KEVY!!!) So we're young parents and we like to still have fun.

We also try to raise Zoe and Amelie in a fun, creative ,environment that fosters creativity and imagination. One way we try to do so is through the sense of sound/ hearing.

Kevin and I have a great love for classics such as RUN-DMC, At the Drive In, the breeders, The beastie Boys,The Pixies, etc. Kevin has deep roots in hip hop and I'm an indie girl to the core.

(hmm Amelie needs a Run-DMC shirt too lol)

So imagine our surprise when we stumbled upon "kindie rock" and "Kid Hop"
DEFINITION:
"It's called "Kindie Rock," and unlike the Barney and Doodlebops you're used to, this style of music is a little more rock and roll. And... more familiar to parents.

Basically, Kindie Rock combines well-known tunes from contemporary music with kid-centric lyrics that are imaginative and amusing." -susan kim-

We like to think of "kindie rock" and "kid hop" as music progressive parents and their offspring can both enjoy. (Because face it Barney,the doodlebops,and the (shudder) the wiggles are just NOT where its at!
A favorite we have stumbled upon is "Secret Agent 23 Skiddo" !!! I read about him in Cookie Magazine (RIP) a few years ago,I never really payed much more attention to him until l heard one of his songs on XM satellite radio.

Secret Agent 23 Skiddo is a rapper and dad (to the most adorable little girl Saki.) The Skiddo crew is mom,dad,and saki.They all rock the mic together in a fun, family friendly way. I know some people may find this a bit lame, but I find it to be a nice balance between what we once were,and who we've become..parents. And, I'm not telling you to throw out your vinyl collection and replace it with all kid friendly jams, but it's a nice added extra.

True NOTHING will ever top the kings of rock RUN-DMC. The wave of kindie-rock and kid-hop will be neat to throw into our kid friendly mixes we give to the girls friends for b-day presents!

my future is bright and full of color...

I know it's been a month of Sunday's since I've last written. Life hasn't been dull (AT ALL!!) We have had high, highs and low, lows. But amongst all the chaos, life has been bringing us lately, I have been truly BLESSED with wonderful life changing news.....

I GOT ACCEPTED TO ART SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my super pretty acceptance package that came in the mail for me!!:)

I will be attending Memphis College of Art in ...eh ....about three weeks!!! I will be majoring in visual arts with a concentration in Graphic Design. :) (This blog will surely be getting a make over or two while I'm in school) I will be sooo happy to put my Mac to use for creative endeavors.

Memphis college of art is inside of the Brooks Museum of art in Overton Park in Memphis Tennessee. I live an hour and a half away the school so I will be driving there for classes two to three days a week. It seems a bit extreme but it's an amazing school and the prospect of being surrounded by so many creative people moves me (right on down the highway) :)

We are making the trek there Tuesday to view the school and talk things over with some people to make sure every things in place. I did get a bit bummed thinking things were not going to fall in place financially but I trust that everything is going to work out.

I am so excitred to finally share this info with you guys! Sadly I won' be able to drive back and forth to Mississippi to work at the tattoo shop anymore (I may help out once or twice a month) But my tattoo shop family knows that this is a true dram Im pursing, nad who knows, once Im done with school throw myself back into the world of tattoo shops and actual apprentice to tattoo.

Possibilities are endless in the world of art....<3

This is the outfit I wore Monday to take the girls to the art museum.

I'd wanted to wear this outfit for awhile but was iffy on the color combo.I finally decided to wear it and I am simply in LOVE with the color combination!

I think next time i'll wear plain black flats instead of the ones i decided on. But all in all I think it worked :) Kinda makes me wish it were Fall because of the color of the shirt though!?

a trip to see art...

So we live in a small town,there's not much to do with kids that isn't the park library, or at a church,so I feel as though Im forever on the hunt for fun,different things for us to do with the girls.We don't have a legit art museum here, just a small gallery that showcases local artists (I had my sophomore year art show at the same gallery actually :) So Monday, I took the girls to "The Ned" to see some local artist paintings:)

Zoe REALLY enjoyed it! Poor Amelie on the other hand just woke up from a car nap when we got there so she wasn't as thrilled.But after awhile she warmed up to the fun colors and wanted to get a closer look.

The entire place is not very big at all, and it only took a small time to see all the paintings (we went around twice).But we did go get ice cream after and Kevin asked Zoe what her favorite thing was the ice cream or going to the art museum and she happily answered the art museum! (Score!)

I think the exhibits are changed monthly, so we may make this a normal stop on our downtown adventures.

I think it's unfair to complain about your town not having anything to do.I feel you have to hunt down anything you can for a good time! AND if you look hard enough you can even find awesome FREE stuff to do! I have stumbled upon SO any neat things to do with kids that aren't super boring and don't cost much at all.Im so happy the girls enjoyed this experience, as I can clearly remember going to the art museum in Berkeley with my parents when I was little and being so thrilled at all the colors and creativity surrounding me.
I hope to do the same for Zoe and Amelie and let art rule their little hearts just as it does mine:)

4th of July re-cap (better late than never eh?!)

First of al I want to say HI!!! to all my new followers!!! And that im so excited about everyone signing up for the cute little giveaway(which ends tomorrow at noon!!!) Oh what lucky gal will win!??!!?!

Ok now onto the Fourth of July pics.:)I must explain why I haven't been updating and why this post is sooo late. This past week I worked every day of the week!! (EEEP!!!) Back and forth between the tattoo shop and at the store I was tired!! (Mix that with two little girls that have swimming lessons, ballet classes, etc, I had no time to even sit in front of my poor Mac) Oh and let me not forget the call I got from the Art College telling me my portfolio cd was not working properly and my scramble to get all the pieces emailed as soon as I could!! So yes I have had a very busy week!!!(To say the least) But now things are slowing down,I even got to have three of my best friends over Friday, which was a huge treat because I haven't seen them all at once in so long:(

Ok here's the re-cap of our fourth...

Our day got started a little late because I had to work at the store and Kevin I both had some insane car trouble.But once all that was put aside,we all met over my parents house to stuff our faces with my dads super yummy BBQ.Zoe and Amelie (of course) wore cute matching red, white, and bluse dresses. And were thrilled to bits about promises of root beer floats,cookies,and firework action!

Once I had properly over eaten :) We took the party put fun for some pre fireworks, poppers and party popper action with my cousin Doug :)

I felt bad about all the mess and spent a good ten to fifteen minutes cleaning up my moms driveway.
After I got done (everyone else left me and went to the backyard! oh the lovely life of a mom right?!) we started to set up for our bundle of fireworks:)

Once it was dark enough we started....blowing stuff up!! :) I actually had more fun with the sparklers:)

By that time we were all exhausted! As usually it was a fun Fourth of July we were all happy stuffed and proud to be Americans!!

picnics in the park!

First thing, Happy Fourth of July!!!

Eeeep! I know I haven't blogged in a while :( I have been so very busy working, working,and working some more!! But before I headed to work Friday I planned a little family picnic in the park!

Living in the south it gets REALLY hot in the summers and it's hard to get out side and do stuff. But I noticed, that the weather wasn't too bad Friday so i decided that a picnic in the park was very much in order.

The girls were thrilled and it was good for all four of us to actually get to sit down and have fun together.

It's funny to watch Zoe and Amelie when we get together and do fun stuff as a family. They get so happy jsut doing the most simple activities which kind of makes Kevin and I wonder why we work so much,. It's really odd for me since I just went back to work at the beginning of this year (I was a SAHM for two years) and it was a glorious time. While having more money is definitely a plus, I truly do miss getting to spend every second with Zoe and Amelie an getting to witness first hand how they are leaning and growing. However activities like the fun park picnic, put things back into perspective and make all the hard days of work,worth while.

We have a really busy week ahead of us.Even though today is the fourth of July, I still have to work at the store a few hours. Then tomorrow I work at the tattoo shop. Im actually thrilled about it, because I'm getting my chest piece worked on tomorrow!! Yay!! It's a tribute to my grandparents :) So while this week is going to be very busy indeed, I'm happy that we will have this picnic day glued in our memory banks for safe keeping and happy thoughts when things start to get a little hectic this week.

Ok, this is a very special post for me. I mentioned awhile ago about my new job working at a tattoo shop.So I thought i'd introduce you to my new friends :) Before I begin this post I want to explain my background in body modification so that you can understand the importance of this job to me.

When I was 18 yeasr old I wandered unknowingly into a tattoo shop in memphis, tennessee with my friend to get our belly buttons pierced.The piercer was mean and no one was particularly friendly. Fast forward a year, I was 19 years old and I started working in retail and met Nicole. The funniest,prettiest,kindest lady, you'll ever meet, Nicole owned her own tattoo shop and was the head piercer at the shop. After a few months I decided to get my first piercing from Nicole (my industrial) MANY piercings followed. In the time I was working with Nicole we became very good friends and Nicole began teaching me things here and there about the world of body modification.After awhile Nicole stopped working at the retail store and I still managed to go to her tattoo shop almost every day . Nicole takes pride in doing things PROPERLY, she is a member of the APP and she is an amazing piercer and now tattoo artist.

A month a or so ago Nicole sent me a text message asking me if I wanted to work at a tattoo shop (this wasn't the first time she wanted me to come work for her) But this time I truly felt I was ready to learn more about this amazing world which I have been fascinated with since I was 18. I jumped at the chance to work at the new shop Nicole is working at...

Flatline tattoo is located in Corinth Mississippi (and yes I drive all the way from Tennessee to work there...it's a very special place)
The owner Of Flatline Tattoo is Jonathan Burdine. Jonathan ("JBurd) is an AMAZING artist (he tattooed the anchors on my feet) JBurd can pull of any style of tattooing with pure perfection.He is a very kind hearted person and I feel HONORED to be able to work at his shop.

JBurd is simply hilarious and he is always cracking me up with his "voices" and his love of sugar cookies teehee! Working at Flatline and being in and out of Nicole's old shop I have learned so much. I know the HIGH standard of which Tattoo shops need to be kept. Getting a tattoo or piercing is a life changing experience and every person deserves to have these modificationss done in a clean peaceful environment. I feel that Flatline is just that place. I have never come in and felt out of place, or un welcomed. Now that I am working there, it is my goal to make all customers feel the same way!

My root canal went fine! Thanks so much for all my well wishes on here and twitter:) I'll bee back working at the tattoo shop tomorrow hopefully.I will take today easy as my mouth hurts a bit (but nothing some aspirin and a homemade chocolate milkshake can't cure right?!)

Little Miss Sweet Tooth Strikes Again!!!

So, my while life I've only had one cavity!!! But last week my tooth began KILLING me and I made an emergency trip to the dentist.There ,I learned the bad news, I was going to have to have a root canal!!!!! Apparently I had a cavity in my top left tooth for quite awhile and now the poor little sweet tooth is un-savable!

(how cute is "little miss sweet tooth"? I drew her this morning just for the "occasion" at hand.)
While I was surely in shock that I was going to have to get a root canal, I must admit, I wasn't surprised! I have definitely devoured my fair share of gummy bears,sharks,worms, dinos, octopi, etc in my life and even though I'm i n my 20s my love of gummy bears is still strong.And eating them before bed,then passing out without brushing ones teeth is NOT advisable!!!
I'm very scared about this procedure (I may have my fair share of piercings and tattoos, but the thought of a dentist drilling and what not on my poor little teeth scares me to no end!)
The only good thing I can think of all this, is endless milkshakes,smoothies,and noodle soup.(and my mouth won't be swollen like a prize fighter anymore) And HOPEFULLY Kevin is sweet enough to buy me Daria on DVD to watch while Im in bed with horrid pain :(

So if I'm M.I.A on my little blog here for a few days, just have happy thoughts of me in bed with a chocolate milkshake giggling in bed while watching dear Daria,Jane,and Trent do funny 90s type stuff:)

EEEEP! baby babushka fabric! I got this fabric a few weeks ago I have no idea what to do with it yet but I think it's pretty :)

This isn't actually fabric, instead it's a sewing box I saw while I was running errands for the tattoo shop yesterday.
I've been thinking about getting a craft inspired tattoo for awhile and this caught my eye.We'll see what happens with that!

kickin' it!

All this week Zoe has had soccer camp.

This is the first sport she's had any involvement in and she seems to have lots of fun. Soccer camp isnt't very intense at all(I seriously think they take more water breaks than anything else) Zoe requested a few months back to do soccer. I never played any sports as a child or in high school(I was a total band dork and LOVED it!) I also considered myself a bit too prissy for sports....standing in the sun for band camp was ENOUGH! So, when I was pregnant with Zoe, I loudly declared to Kevin that our child was NEVER going to play sports! YUCK!!! I was not (am not) the typical soccer mom but that's ok I really don't have any desire to talk to or be like those khaki short wearing ladies anyhow. I proudly wore my gold very wang sandals and olive green capri pant thingies with a nice white skull and roses on the side :)

Zoe does really well with the whole kicking (dribbiling? thing) (see told ya totally not a sports gal:( and of COURSE I made sure her outfits have been on point!(gotta look cute right?!)

One thing I do agree that sports is helping teach Zoe, is to not give up on stuff,keep going to you get it etc.She gets out there has fun,learns and does really well I think!

Poor little Amelie is too little to go to socer camo but she still likes going and watching Zoe play (and get water out of the community water cooler)

Tomorrow is hte last day of soccer camp, and while I admit being a soccer mom isn't something I rank high on my list of things to do,if Zoe want s to pursue it further Ill be right there cheering her on, on the sidelines, fierce sandals,and skully "mom capris" all neatly in place!;)

Saturday and Sunday I went walking around downtown taking pictures of all the neat buildings and such.

Its SO neat to see all the old buildings and how different they look than the
"slapped together cookie cutter" buildings of today. I took pictures of the local greyhound bus staion. (oh the stories I know must happen here)!) People coming going, almost to where they want, need, or have to be. If the walls of this bus station could talk!

I also found this very interesting building (The New Southern Hotel) How cool is this?!

I also stumbled upon this cool building.It's currently a law office, Im not sure what exactly it was used for when it was built though?

I've bee n in this antique store many years ago,but I think I need to pay it a visit really soon,as I could see tons of treasures when I peaked through the windows.

This picture is obviously just a vacant lot, but Ive seen it so many times while driving and thought it looked so visually interesting that I just had to take its pictures too.

Kevin saw this sign before he took some pictures of me and told me to snap a shot of the "fall out shelter" sign....we couldn't figure out where exactly the fallout shelter was...since the sign was just on an empty wall?!

And lastly, Kevin took some pictures of me, in front of this wall I have been admiring and wanting to photograph for the longest. The pictures don't get the top of the building where there are cool windows all boarded up and such. But I still think they look neat!

There was so much more I wanted to photograph and maybe I will soon! It's amazing what stuff you can kind on a walk around downtown!

to market,to market!

Saturday morning we packed all four of us into the car and headed downtown to our local farmers market.
All the smells,colors,sights,and sounds of the farmers market always amaze me at every visit!

There are always so many wonderful smells at the market,fresh fruits being cut open for people to sample, coffee being brewed from the local coffee shop that sets up at the market to sell,vendors making various foods to sell,stopping to smell the flowers...the list of glorious market smells, goes on and on!

But I must say, I think my favorite market smell is indeed, the smell of fresh flowers!:)Saturday we went home with one pretty bunch of fresh flowers!

The colors and sights of the market are endless, from the colors of the fruits,veggies,and flowers, the craft people setting up their creations,to all the different shades of people everywhere,the farmers market is an endless world of brilliant, glorious, never ending, color!

We took home some of these irresistible squash!! (How pretty are they?!)

After we collected lots of good things to eat,we went inside and found more vendors selling beautiful rainbows of jewelry.

Another favorite spot of ours at the farmers market is the amish market. They have all sorts of goodies to buy.Everything from breads,to candies,to fresh squeezed honey. We settled on a bag of peppermints.

All in all we had a good trip to the farmers market! And left with happy faces and a HUGE bag full of fresh,locally grown produce!

breakfast crew(foods for your fancy)

Yesterday morning we decided we would spend some family time (stuffing our faces full of food) before I had to go to work at my very first day at the tattoo shop(more on that in another post!) We all decided that Perkins was the best choice in our little town (so that mommy could have a choice other than pancakes that give me a horrible tummy ache!)
(oh fickle me lol)
The girls decided to get some strange little drink concoctions of red syrup, sugar, water and hyper?! I took a sip of Zoe's and it was very yucky indeed , but I guess kids like em so whatev!

One thing about living in the south, is that people do most of their bonding over food (cookouts,picnics,church events,parties etc ALL are planned around food.I suppose it's not TOO bad you can stuff your face with delicious treats in moments of awkward silence and conversation can then be lead to "how simply wonderful the food is! I just MUST have your recipe!
Despite this strange, at times disturbing trend (the south has more severely overweight people than any other regions of the US) memories are still made this way and certain tastes will always bring your mind back to special occasions and happy or sad thoughts.

Yesterdays "breakfast tastes included:

pancakes piled high with more sugary goodness for the girls! More pancakes for Kevin.And mini chimis for me!

After stuffing our faces,giggling,and telling Amelie repeatedly to stop yelling (until Kevin had to remove her and himself from the restaurant to go and sit in the car for time out! )(sheesh YAY TWO!!) Zoe and I headed up to the counter to pay and noticed ...more delicious treats! Behold baked goodness!!!!!

So,that was our lovely family food fueled bonding time! Now we are about to head out in search of more food (this time in the healty variety at the local farmers market!) I hope everyone has a good Saturday filled with fun,food,and many happy memories!!

I must admit we have been hiding inside a lot lately from the brutal southern sun.But one thing we have been doing outside is building up our little garden! last year our garden was all flowers!

It was indeed the happiest little site outside of the windows each day! This year our little garden box is all about the veggies! We have lettuce and radishes,squash and tomatoes! Nothing feels better than getting out in the yard and digging around with the garden tools!

Having a family garden is so much fun and practical in so many ways.Getting outside as a family (or by yourself) and all working toward a common goal is so much fun and very rewarding. Zoe and Amelie are able to watch food and flowers grow from tiny little seeds into a nice fresh salad on their dinner plates,or a beautiful bouquet of flowers we can bring to gramma!
Also having a summer garden helps keep little ones busy with a very important "job"This helps with the unfilled hours of summer boredom that sometimes occur!

Helping children understand with hard work they can make things grow will also help them in their daily lives and as they get older.
And of course another obvious benefit of having a garden (flower or food) is that you dont have to pay high grocery store prices for things that may have been grown using chemicals and such.Also you dont have to pay the high cost for fresh flowers! You just go to your yard and clip a few pretties to bring in the house as a decoration or gift!
We still, however take our trips to the farmers market for things we are not growing. But seriously, I can not give enough praise for the love I have of gardening and watching the miracle of making things grow!!

Our love of gardening isnt just limited to our home built garden box, we also have lots going on in a small container garden on the patio! (This is where my flowers and herbs are this year)

I hope this post made you wanna get out and start a garden this summer (or at least get a nice house plant?!) Oh yeah one more awesome thing about gardening?! Cut little garden gnomes!!!(duh!!)

colors n candies

This week will be a very busy week for little ol' me! I am applying to art school!! After months of debate and being one college course away from an assoc. degree of graphic design, Im taking the plunge and getting my portfolios ready to mail off to two different art schools. I'm sure this week will bring lots of beautiful colors in the form of pastels paints and pencils...

I'm going to try to remain positive and remember my love of art while I get the "paper work" side of things together and while I toil over which pieces to include in my portfolios! I feel a bit nervous about my attempts to enter art school,not because I can't do it, but because I know I'm a bit older than the other students and I've been out of the graphic design game for a few years now. It's also a bit of a nerve puller to get a portfolio together and have people judge your art.... which in my opinion is just the heart expressed in different media! But,you do go to school to learn after all, and because I know the importance of this to me now, I have a feeling I will be working very hard to be the best I can in each and every class I take. In the meantime I think I will enjoy some sweets while I feel out FAFSA forms and download my best work onto cds...

Yeah that may sweetin things up a bit!

capturing summer days...i want to keep close...

Today it's rainy and gloomy. I've been shuffling about the living room re-arranging furniture and ripping off chair covers in hopes to spruce up our little space. All this because of the rain and because I cant take two little ladies out to play and frolic. In memory of happy warm days(just a few days ago to be exact) I'll share with you some pictures of out door adventures. (In hopes of many more to come)

Summer has a kit in our house,it usually includes:sidewalk chalk,bubbles,water shooters,and other random outdoor toys,that can be easily taken outside for hours of kiddie delight!

On this particular day,we packed our kit up and took it to my parents house for some outdoor fun :)

Like I mentioned in my last post,I've been so very busy now that I'm working again,Kevin's work schedule has changed too,so our little family seems to be all over the place (doing nothing of any particular importance) I've REALLY been missing blogging,so my goal is to get it back to where it was (and even better!)

I hope this rainy day finds you well! Thinking of new creative (colorful) things to create and move into your world, but right now I have a chair and foot stool to cover in some fun fabric!

I have been so busy! Im working back at my old (retail) job a lot now, and little a.korn designs is still rocking at the neely house!

Kevin and I have new dreams we are trying to turn in to reality.Zoe and Amelie are gearing up for summer activities (swimming lessons,ballet and tap,and soccer camps oh my!) Our Summer is off to a great start! I hope yours is too!!

I KNOW!!! I'm a BAD BAD blogger!!! But in my defense I'm also a busy busy blogger!!! I've been working at the store,toting around my tots,going on mini road trips with gal pals,studying,making bows and tu tus and other hair creations,booking photography shoots,roller skating,meeting awesome new people in the tattoo industry,celebrating friends birthdays,cleaning,skateboarding (eep the list goes on and on) So SEEEEE I've had my plate full of goodness!

Today is no different we've already had people out looking at the furnace (which needs to be cleaned) made several calls ,and taken the trash to be picked up! So,I thought I'd stop in my Little A.korn Blog" to give an update! The weather outside is super yucky and COLD today!!! We have, however,had a few beautiful days in the sun! A few weeks ago Kevin's friend David asked if we wanted to get together with his kids and go to a local park to feed the ducks and play.We of course thought this sounded like an excellent idea and away we went to the park!!!

Once we got there,all the girls ran straight to the water (which pretty much gave me a heart attack but thrilled them senseless!!) to feed the ducks!

It took awhile for the ducks to make it our way,

but soon enough they arrived for the bread crumb feast!!!

The girls all had a blast feeding the (very large) ducks bread crumbs!

But after awhile, both the ducks and the kids lost interest,and the playground was a-callin our names!!! We all had fun on the playground (yeeees EVEN me!!!)

Yay warm sunny early Spring days!!! I truly hope this bit of cold,rainy,gloomy,weather goes away soon!!! I'm ready for more fun in the sun!!

Now on to the subject at hand.I love this song SO much that it has become my newest tattoo!!

I originally wanted "Speakers Push The Air" straight across my shoulders BUT magical Jeff, (as always) came up with something SO much prettier and girlier and I'm in LOVE with it!!! My back is now almost completely covered (he did angel wings on my back (my FIRST tattoo) when I was 20) so now only the bottom of my back and shoulders aren't covered,but I'm pretty sure we will fix that one day..

A trip to the children's museum!

Tuesday, I decided out of the blue (because stuff like that is just plain FUN) that we should make a trip to the Children's museum! So we packed ourselves into the car and headed south.:)
Zoe and Amelie were THRILLED upon entering the museum!

I was immediately in LOVE with all the fun colors all around!! Getting out and doing something as a family despite the BITTER cold was very rewarding,and LONG over due!I think Kevin and i are such children at heart that we equally enjoyed the museum as much as the girls!!
The museum was filled with buttons to push,things to read,experiments to try,clothes to wear,things to slide,run,and jump,on,pretty much every kids (and kid at hearts) dream come true!
In our "normal everyday life" I usually go to the grocery store with my mom and the girls.Zoe and Amelie have to sit in the cart and cant do too very much to help me.BUT at the Children's museum there was a mini grocery store full of "food items" and a mini "deli" all nice and low for little people and little hands to reach and "shop to their hearts content!! The girls had a BLAST with this part of the museum!! They filled their wee little baskets to the brim then proceeded to the "check out counter,where Kevin and I were waiting with smiles to "ring them up"! They even got their own mini receipts!

The next stop on our "museum tour" was the "Art gallery" This was indeed my favorite part!!

Poor girls they were ready to run to the next thing and I made them pose in front of "Starry Night" ha!

After the girls colored pictures in the art area we moved onto the theatre area,which was full with tons of fun costumes and props for dress up! There was a huge green screen behind the stage and Kevin and I came to the conclusion that on super duper busy days they must let kids make mini videos with nifty backgrounds?! (not sure) But we still had a blast!

All in all the museum was gorgeous and super fun! Everywhere you looked you couldn't just had to smile!!

I ended up just having to hula hoop!!

We all truly had a great day!I'm looking forward to warmer days so that we can go on many more mini family adventures!!
